Full Moon Fever

My last post described a recent visit to the beach to watch a beautiful sunrise, in which I woke up my girlfriend in the wee hours of the night so we could make the drive in time to catch the sun peaking over the horizon. In all the excitement over that trip, I forgot that right before we hopped in my vehicle to make the drive, I snapped a quick picture of the full moon sitting low in the western sky. I was scrolling through my photos on my phone a few minutes ago and came across it. I thought the moon looked pretty cool being framed in by the trees and the house across the street. I hope all of you enjoyed seeing the full moon a couple of nights ago. I always enjoy seeing the moon in all its glory each month, and I definitely feel a little more pep in my step on days with full moons. I call it my "full moon fever," which by the way is an awesome album by hall of fame rocker Tom Petty, who grew up here in Gainesville.
Do any of you feel differently on nights of full moons? One of my close friends, who's an ER nurse, says the emergency room is always packed full of crazy people on nights of full moons. I used to joke with people that I turned into a werewolf on full moons! These days, I may do a little howling every now and then, but the running wild with the pack days are long gone.

@just4him Super milk moon? I haven't heard of that name before! And I thought the corn moon was in the fall when the corn was harvested? Maybe I'm wrong on that one. Or maybe there's spring corn? haha

Yeah, I think it was called the super flower moon. It was as beautiful rising in the sky the night before as it was setting in the sky the morning I took the picture!

You should only be worried if that hair growth doesn't disappear after the full moon is over.

@DocAndersen Yes, you should start to worry. You might want to see a doctor for that. I hear it's the latest symptom added to the long list of coronavirus symptoms. You should get tested!

Me too! I love sunsets, I try to view them as often as I can, but every now and then it is a nice change of scenery to see a sunrise instead of a sunset.

@marguicha I get up at 4:00am for work every morning, so I'm used to being up early. The only bad part is that I'm already at work when the sun comes up, so I don't usually get to see it.

@moffittjc it is odd, it's hard to make a connection as to why that would make a difference, but I mean the moon affects the tides, so maybe it pulls on ppls stupid sides too, lol

Me too! I deal with people on a daily basis, and I can always tell when it's a full moon, because people act so much crazier.

@Jessicalynnt I'm sure it has something to do with gravitational pull. But what it's pulling inside our bodies is beyond me! Maybe you're right, maybe it is pulling our stupid sides! lol

I am the same way! I could stare at the moon for hours, completely hypnotized in a trance from gazing at it.

@moffittjc Indeed, but no howling here, I just get lost in the beauty and mystery.

@CarolDM Well, I think the howling is reserved for werewolves of the male species. I'm not quite sure what the female species does on full moons. Maybe they're more fertile or something. I don't know.

@moffittjc That's a good effect! I feel melancholic when I see the full moon. Some people get sick though.

I love full moons! I don't know if it affects me more than usual (I have never asked my friends if I get crazier during full moons), but I do feel like I have a lot more energy.

I love your picture of the moon. It's gorgeous! I always enjoy looking at pictures of the moon. When I was working, whenever there was a full moon, we dreaded the next day. That meant that crazy people would be calling. As for myself, I don't feel any different during a full moon that know of.

Yeah, I don't feel any different either, but I also have to deal with all the crazies who come out after a full moon. Maybe they're just really grumpy because they stayed up all night looking at the moon! LOL

"They" say that there is no proof that full moons change people's behaviors, but anyone who works on the frontlines of the medical field will tell you that there is something about full moons that bring out all the craziness in people.

I watched it come over a mountain, while fishing with Robert, but what made this moon special was that we were at the same location of our first date, yes he took me finishing.

I love the beauty of full moons too, and I total believe the myths about people acting crazier during full moons. I work in government, I deal with people every day, and they are so much more crazy and nasty on full moon days.

@nela13 You don't have to take my word for it, you can see for yourself during the next full moon. Just take a ride down to your hospital's emergency room and observe what you see. Or ask any of the nurses. They'll tell you! haha

I believe there is something to that full moon theory as they always say the crazies come out then. Fortunately, I have not experienced it first hand but this urban legend might just be true. After all, the word “lunatic,” and its relatives “loon” and “loony,” derive from the Latin word “luna,” meaning “Moon.”

That is true, I never thought about the origins of the word lunatic! So even many thousands of years ago they understood that the crazies all came out in full force on the night of full moons.

Great moon shot. I have heard their is more seizure activity as well when the moon is full, don't know if that is true or an old wive's tale.

I think there is a lot more to old wives tales than the scientific community wants to accept. Many wives tales have been around for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, and have stood the test of time.

I have always heard stories about how packed our local emergency rooms get on nights of full moons, and that it is full of crazy people. There's got to be some truth to the myth about full moons. Science says there isn't, but obviously they would change their minds if they had to spend an evening shift in an emergency room during a full moon.
