Milk from our mayor

I really don't know what's on the mind of the mayors and governors here. After giving us rice and canned goods that wouldn't last for 2 days, now comes fresh milk in cartons. Why not just give us money so we can buy what we really need. From what I know, there are very few milk drinkers in our neighborhood, they prefer coffee or tea.

We received 2 kilos of uncooked rice 4 times since March 15 until today - a total of 8 kilos of rice for almost 2 months.

There is probably no money to give and the milk donated.

That is one good point and it really makes sense. The maker of the milk is the largest food company in our country,.

@Alexandoy here, the disbursement of the sap was chaotic, some households received a lot, some didn't

@hereandthere same here and probably everywhere. For me, it is stupid to give money to the people without clear identification of beneficiaries. Who decides who to receive? That is stupid. In the US, they send the stimulus check to those who paid their taxes. That is clear, no cheating, no discretion needed.

You may be right. I was also thinking that it was probably a donation by a rich person or maybe a company.

@Alexandoy I believe that very young kids need milk, we do not consume a lot of milk, I only use it to make cakes and pastries.

@LadyDuck the milk was actually for the seniors. They asked when they rang the door bell if there is a senior in our home.

You are right with essential foods. But is milk really essential? I know of so many families that prefer bread to eat than milk to drink.

@amitkokiladitya that is the problem with politicians, they are always focused on the poor. Why so? Because the poor are the easiest to fool.

Wow that’s nice that they have that one. I guess those are donated items that they just got from donors and they are just distributing it to you. Good thing they have that one. Our Mayor had a few canned goods mostly sardines and a 5 kilo of rice. Good thing we are just three in the house that 5 kilos of rice is enough to last us a couple of weeks.

In fact I really think that your mayors and governors did a good job about this. I even think that at this moment perhaps the food is much more important than the money. It is really good that you can get some food. I know the food can't suit everybody's taste but at least this is a nice help.

@Alexandoy At least it is still a hope for you to have this money. Our government has not given money to the people anyway.

The government has a subsidy of money, $140 for each family who lost job due to the lockdown. But the money is not seen until now.

@youless yesterday was the last day of giving the money. I still don't know if the poor in our neighborhood already received the financial aid.

Huh heard Korea was doing something similar and I still have not got my one lonely check. Think A lot have not. I am not sure what answer is but they sure seem to be saying we never did give acrap about you unless you put us in office. The saddest thing out of all this is how sad our leaders look.

@Alexandoy Yeah that kind of thinking is going to hurt a lot of people. Cannot choose to be vengeful or biased in this kind of situation. If really wanted to impress people would go above and beyond and the smiles and gratitude would be amazing. Our country no longer thinks that way. I have to say been very disappointed with us. you take care of your people that is all I know.

If you mean the stimulus check, our counterpart here is called the Amelioration program to give about $140 to those who lost their jobs due to the lockdown. But the beneficiaries are not clearly identified and the mayors seem to be the one identifying who would receive.

@crossbones27 if the government will provide something for the people then it should not be discretionary.

Wow! They are really getting creative as time goes by. Maybe they are the excess donations from the companies and they no longer like them. So they have decided to share them already.

do you think they are trying to help both sides? (dairies and people by giving food that is not moving as well now?)

The maker of the milk products is the largest food company here so it is not logical to help that company.

@DocAndersen that is also a possibility. Big companies normally donate to candidates during election.

@Nevena83 there are 34 poor families living nearby in a big land with small houses for rent. I always give them anything that we have in excess like bread and other food items.
