It has been a bummer these past 16 days. I missed all of you these past 16 days and am so glad I was released today.
Have you ever thought you were simply having gas pains and waited to simply fart?
Well, like an idiot I did. That damn pain started the evening of the 24th but when I neither passed gas or got any other kind of pain relief I finally took myself to the emergency room early on April 26th.
It turned out I needed an emergency appendectomy.
Thankfully within an hour or so that I walked into the ER I got that surgery thanks to doctor Cox. I am so thankful.
Well, the photo is the room I was in these last 11 days, they put all new patients in quarantine for 14 days just in case and boy is that boring. The room isn't small but I felt caged in.
Anyway, how have all of you been doing?
Have I missed a lot?
I did try to get hold of a laptop but none were available in the hospital or the nursing rehab center and of course I didn't have one of my own. Can you guess what I'll be investing in pretty soon?

Two weeks in jail. With food just about as bad. Glad you survived!! They took my appendix out when they did my hysterectomy in 1995....a two-for-one special!

i've heard of women also having appendectomies if they're giving birth by caesarian

@hereandthere — the explanation I was given is that they take the appendix while they have you open to prevent any problems that might necessitate opening the abdomen again. That does make sense. Plus, no extra charge for the doctors, operating room, assistant, etc.

I'm glad that you reached out and sought medical attention.
I wondered where you were.
I have a laptop and would never go back to having a desktop, just too big and cumbersome, I like how portable the laptop is. I like mine, I got a great brand and its lasted me for about 6 years now.

That's a good point @DocAndersen I suppose sometimes it's better to buy high end rather than the cheaper models.
I was planning to keep it for at least 7 years

I'm so glad that you're back ! My longest hospital day was about 4 days - and I know I couldn't stand it . . . geez, 11 days. I hope you are healing well from the surgery . . . are you up and about now? I'm sure your fur babies are happy to see you again! I don't have my own laptop either, but I do have a smartphone though I think that would have burned me out eventually too.

@rebelann I had to stay because I had a c-section with my second one . . . but I was literally bored out of my mind. They let me out a day early though as I was doing well walking around and such. I seriously could not wait to go home - get me out of that room!
I'm glad your life was saved and you are ok ! Ugh - you didn't have your reading glasses - but well, probably just as well taking a rest from the internet anyway.

I would have been better off with my computer but that didn't happen @much2say All they had for entertainment was limited cable and the only shows I could find were those stupid Law & Order SUV episodes or CPD episodes, I don't like those but listening to the news got old really fast.
I have Amazon Prime so I can chose what I want to watch without all those stupid commercials.

Thank you, I'm so glad to be back. I've never been stuck in a hospital or rehab in my life before so this was a really new experience for me and not a very good one except to say that the surgeon saved my life.
I had my smartphone with me but I've never actually tried to use it to access the internet and the worst part is I didn't have my reading glasses with me, that really stunk.

I don't know what it is about an appendectomy that always makes think that it's not that serious. You don't know how many times I've heard a similar story. It's starts out "Well! I just thought it was ..." Then it ends: "It turns out it was an appendectomy and I had to be rushed to the ER." Fortunately, the story is usually a happy ending like yours. Glad you're back!

I think most of us have no clue about the appendix until we feel that pain @cmoneyspinner
