Taking a gap year before college for mental health

What do you think about taking a gap year before entering college to deal with your mental health? Yes or nah? And after a year is up, how do you return to college?

Hi! Taking a break to deal with issues, ex. Mental health can be very beneficial to students. A gap year can help enlighten you, broaden your views on the world, re-focus your attention, etc. And for those who suffer from mental health problems, a gap year can help them reach out to psychologists or therapists in order to heal from their conditions. For some, a gap year can save their lives. Thank you for your question.

There's no substantial reason for your mental health when you stop schooling a year gap to college. You stop schooling for some reasons like financial support, transfer of residence or natural calamities or war.

@Marshmallow_03 Oh yeah. We just present our ideas on what we personally perceive.

I respect your opinion. Everyone has their own views on things and we may not see eye to eye but, that is the purpose of discussions right?

I told my daughters when they were growing up that they needed to finish college before taking a break. Then they could take a break.

It is a yes for me. Take a break if you need to, and stop worrying about what you'd do in the next year, so that you can give space to what you want to do now, and come back refreshed and motivated next year.

I did not take a gap year or go to college, but now I wish I had because it all sounds like the sort of fun you have while young.

I started college when I was sixteen, and I almost chickened out my first day of classes. I was so nervous that I begged my mom to let me put it off a year, but she said if I backed out then I'd never go back again. She was right, so I went ahead and started college. But maybe some people need a break.

Yes, you're right. It all depends on every individual's situation.

I've never heard that taking a "gap year" had to do with mental health.

Year gap before college is not common in our place. Right after high school we go straight to freshmen year in college.

I see. Yes, gap year is not really known and practiced in many places. But are you in favor of it or not?

@Marshmallow_03 I cannot seem to find the answer in myself LOL. Most probably, I would go straight to college.
