Serious plot twist in Doctor Who

The latest episode of Doctor Who had a seriously dramatic plot twist (obviously stop reading here if you don’t want to be spoiled). Despite what the entire show until has told us, it turns out that the Doctor is not actually from Gallifrey. They are actually a being known as the ‘Timeless Child’ that fell from another universe, and they had countless incarnations before the supposedly ‘First’ Doctor! I don’t like this plot twist because I feel it really messes with a lot of precious plots in the show, like the Eleventh Doctor’s entire story arc. What do you guys think?

I have not watched Dr Who since I was a child. I watched the first ever episode ( yes I am that old) but it scared me so much I have not watched it since.

Wow, that's cool! It's a shame that it put you off for life though, lol. Do you like sci fi these days at all?

It's a very good show! Well, some of it at least. It's been run by different creators over the years, so the series' can feel very different from one another. Even if you don't like one series, there's a decent chance you'll like another one. Well, if you like science fiction at least.

@amitkokiladitya It’s also good because it has a mix of different genres, because the Doctor can travel to any time or place. So some of the episodes have a mystery/detective theme, some are westerns, some are space epics, etc.

It’s a TV show, so you watch it rather than reading it

But in The Brain of Morbius when the Doctor and Morbius are wrestling with their minds there appears on the monitor thing people's faces that are supposed to be previous incarnations of the Doctor pre-Hartnell, so it ties in with that.

a 'morph' of Doctor's Daughter Jenny & River Song https://www.morphthing.com/image/105202222-jenny-doctors-daughter-ship-432x243-jpg-2e0bz0je0az1000-jpg?key=e14f117436d43321d662c2373f24e9a9
There's probably a lot of deep criticism out here on the Internet. https://screenrant.com/doctor-who-timeless-child-identity-time-lord-origin-explained/ But--stepping back from it a little--you could say it's just an illustration of the tenuous grasp we have on our personal histories ... the way it doesn't really matter that we're all 'the results of pregnancies' except that OUR children will also be the results of pregnancies, like their children & their children's children. Makes me wonder if that then makes 'The Doctor's Daughter' another kind of "Timeless Child" ... is that "River Song," or was The Doctor's Daughter a totally separate thing?
