So, actually..although I have been to his house a few times, it was his wife that was really well known in our group. I didn't even know his last name, since it was different than hers. However, he was a behind the scenes very solid kind of guy, who was the cook for the barbecues, and someone who supported their lifestyle. He commuted to Washington DC from this area almost, everyday which is no small feat. I think he was a physicist so it was worth his while.
This was a real shock because I had no reason to believe this would happen to someone relatively young (no more than 67 I bet) and full of vitality. I guess it might have been a sudden heart attack because he certainly didn't seem ill. Friend asked me if he was overweight, and he was, but I know his wife recently became a vegetarian and he might have too. I am really in shock, because if you would have asked me the five people I knew most likely to die he wouldn't have been on the list, probably not on the top 10. I wish I had given him more positive attention during the time I knew him..and just expressed my gratitude for all he did. You never know! You really just don't! RIP Charley Martin, you really were a helluva guy! His wife must be so devastated. I think they were married forever.

Wow! What a shock. You really just never know. It could have been anything, or a set of contributing factors. His poor wife!

@snowy22315 With what is going on in the country, they may not be able to go have a proper viewing. I hope her sons will be able to come home, or someone will be able to help her with the farm.

Sorry for the loss. It hard to know when someone's number comes up, it is what it is.

@snowy22315 My Mom would never leave the house without saying to each of us "You are loved." I miss that.

It totally was. I was even wondering if he might have gotten Covid. I should check the stats for this county.

It was..oh well, such is life I guess. A reminder to always be nice, because you don't know when the last time you will see them will be.

Those heart attacks are something else. Some people survive more than one attack. But for a lot of people that first one takes them out! It is sudden! You can't prepare for it. I hope his wife is OK.
