A family in Virginia (one of the US states) rode over a trash bag. They stopped to pick it up, along with another one nearby, and put it in the truck. When they got home they discovered the two bags were filled with lots of money. They reported it and when authorities came and the money was counted there was about a million dollars worth of cash. Wow! The most I've ever found was $1.
Wonder what prompted the family to put the bags into their truck if they thought it was filled with garbage... And why was the money even in garbage bags and on the road? Unless it fell off the truck that was transporting it and they didn't realize it happened...
It was a nice thing to do to report the found money. Hope the family will get a good reward for finding and reporting it...

@mrki444 Well, at least it was not a big loss.

Everything sounds like science fiction to me.

I think that if it's in the trash bag, nobody wants it anymore. Why even report it and just keep it for themselves?

@lovebuglena I see. But still, that's a lot of money.

I made a mistake. It was not in a trash bag. It was a large white bag.

It was an article from my local news website, so has to be.

Sounds a bit strange. If it's all above board, then I hope they get a reward.

The bags were actually large white bags. JJ said they are mail bags.

In the article it said they didn't know yet where the money came from.

I wonder what prompted them to do it... If I found a garbage bag I'd pass it by. Wouldn't think to pick it up or come near it or see what's inside.

@lovebuglena Maybe they don't like to see trash on the road.
