What Petal looked like when she practised social distancing

With all this staying home and social distancing, many of us have been hanging out till we can get our hair cut, trimmed, coloured, whatever. My hair is well down past my shoulders now and Vince is starting to look a bit unkempt, for want of a better word. ‘Unkempt’ would probably be a good word for the state of Petal, when we first took her in. She had been running wild in the bush for at least two years. And she was very into ‘social distancing’. In fact you couldn’t get anywhere near her! I guess she was just a bit ahead of her time. Have you been to a hair-dresser lately or are you still waiting?

Our salons are not opened, and I have no intention of going for a long time. My hair is ponytail length and hubs likes it longer. I still have my fairy hair!

@JudyEv It certainly paid for itself. My son noticed it when we were sitting on my deck on Sunday. He loved it!

As I said in the post, this photo was taken when we first rescued her from running wild in the bush. She was shorn shortly after.

How in the world do those animals not suffocate or die of heat stroke from all that thick wool? It made me start sweating just looking at the photo!

I think that, because wool is insulating, it also stops the animals getting too hot.

@moffittjc It's always touted as being a great winter material. I'm sure Petal found it uncomfortable.

@thelme55 We had one of these old treadle machines too, many years ago. They are collectors' items now.

@JudyEv No, she doesn´t want to cut her long beautiful straight hair which is almost up to her behind. Instead, I showed and taught her how to sew in an old sewing machine of her late mother-in-law. The very old one where you have to move your feet back and fort when sewing.

Unkempt is a word which not only refers to somebody’s hair, but also general appearance - something not well cared for; not tidy., etc, etc! Anyways, my kudos to barbers....it is said, ' God made man.....and barber made Gentleman'

I do not plan to go to a hair-dresser for a long time. So, I would need to cut my hair in front myself, and take my wife's assistance for the hair at my back. I am not sure how it goes, but well, many folks are turning into barbers at home these days!!

@xFiacre At least we are lucky here.. there are barbers here who are on call. Yes, you need to take appointment, and they charge twice the amount, plus travelling allowance...but at least you can get the job done at very comfort of your home...at least it gives me some solace that lockdown has helped some folks!

Nope no hair cuts here and my hair is getting longer than it has in years. I've been pulling it back cause I hate it hanging in my face. Our poor dog Gizmo is in dire need of a grooming and he looks as "unkempt" as Petal.

I talked with my friend whose been my hairdresser and she said she is overwhelmed right now. I told her I'd check back in a couple weeks to see if things are settling down for her. My hair is thick and naturally curly. It doesn't require a lot of work but when it gets fuller/longer I tend to get headaches more frequent. When she trims it, they stop.

@JudyEv Yes, you are right, it is okay when it is winter, but when summer comes, it is easier for them when the wool is cut.
