Addiction to phone

The wife of my nephew is complaining that her husband and son are addicted to the phone. They are playing mobile games until midnight. Maybe it is an occupation for the lockdown era but playing on the phone should not interfere with the sleeping time. I have no comment on that because I know that some people are being slaves of the phone.

A LOT of parents are complaining about that right now. I put my foot down . . . because I have to . . . otherwise everyone will be up for hours with their eyes glued to a screen - and I won't allow that. I make the kids do the chores, we go for walks, we do some gardening, they read . . . anything to get these kids away from the screen so they can experience life. And as they are growing, we make sure they get enough sleep. And we make sure the devices are outside the bedroom . . . we know of many kids who sneak in online time when their parents think they are asleep.

@Alexandoy They are . . . but people can limit their time, if they choose to.

@much2say if they choose to - that is the crux of the matter. With the lockdown they are making the mobile games their occupation.

mobile addiction has reached every home. Particularly kids who seem to be happy playing mobile games all the time. They seem not interested in doing their homework or even having food.

Playing will waste the time that kids will not enrich their minds.

@jayanth_77 yphone is basic. But the parents may need the internet so they have the smart phone.

I guess some of us like to be entertained by playing with phones or computers.

You are right but being entertainment is different from being addicted.

@Alexandoy You are right since I know my limits of using computer devices and not allow myself to be addicted to the point of sacrificing family time.

I think more and more people are getting attached to their phones. You'll always see them carrying their phones around like its the most valuable thing in the planet. I'm sure some would say they can't live without it.

@Alexandoy As if they couldn't even afford a minute to set it down on a table or leave it somewhere for a while. They always have to hold it like there's no place for it but their hands. Addiction is real.

Perhaps you are just the only one who would say that. Almost all people I know couldn't survive without a phone.

@LowRiderX for pictures, I use my digital camera. For calling and texting, I use my phone that I am holding in the picture.

@Alexandoy I'm not a slave to the phone and I go for a walk without a phone, sometimes I'm wrong, I'd take a picture of something, but it's not practical for me, it doesn't fit in my pocket and I can't hold it in my hand non-stop

Even with the laptop, I drain the battery before charging. But not always because when I am doing something important then I cannot afford to be low on battery.

Ah yes. That's an easy addiction to happen. One must assure that it doesn't interfere with social life or responsibilities or health

It is quite impossible to sequester the phones. It will be a world war.

I don't have much time to play games on my mobile phone these days. And I'd rather spend my time being productive.

That is a matured reasoning. Why waste time in playing when you can earn.

Playing for money is earning so it is not included in this issue. The bad addiction is playing for nothing.
