working from home

June 1, 2020 10:21am CST
I have twenty-seven minutes until the end of my working day. Twenty-six. What to do? What to do? I have finished my paperwork. Students finish at four, so there's nobody to support. I've done some admin for my Line Manager. Twenty-five. I have become rather adept at twiddling my thumbs. And drinking tea. I've been learning Korean, with the help of Duolingo. I started to rewrite my novel at the weekend, and then literally lost it because I haven't enabled the automatic save feature on Microsoft. *sigh* Twenty-two. I am a very good clock watcher now. I am also mastering the art of staring into space with nobody being aware. Not sure I could carry it off in a classroom yet, but maybe I'll have the opportunity to find out come September. All these skills I didn't know I have! And this desk is oh so tidy. Twenty. I should change my avatar. Those toes are at least five years old now. Maybe even six. Or maybe more! You all deserve fresh toes, no? I never ever thought I'd be missing the working environment. Not completely, obviously. Early mornings and late nights are not missed. But people-watching, facial expressions, actual physical conversations ... those I miss. I also miss my Mumma's hands. Weird, I know. I'm forty-*cough* years old, and I still like holding her hand. I miss cuddles and fat soggy kisses from my niece. I miss not panicking when I go into the supermarket for my once a week top-up. I miss breathing when people stand in my personal space (which definitely extends beyond the advisory two metres at the moment.) I miss sitting on the bus. Twelve. I think I can probably sneak away now. Who's going to know I left my post a few minutes early?! Besides, it takes me Eleven minutes to close everything down and turn the computer off. Oh hey, it's June. Ten. But it still feels like it should only be April. Happy Monday! Nine.

@poppylicious My new working arrangements are suiting me just fine. May lockdown continue. I love being able to chastise those who invade my personal space and that won't change when Boris says its ok to for everyone to get up close and personal and breathe their cheese and onion crisps into my face.

@Poppylicious We have hoards gathering in the sunshine - the more they drink the closer they get.

I think most of the people in my neck of the woods think that Boris has already given the go ahead. That, or they're a bit imbecilic.

I have decided that working from home doesn't suit me. Not just because of the nature of my job, but because there's too many tempting things around. Like, my bed!

I did some gardening. It was much needed, both spiritually and physically. :)
