Mail is going out of Japan again, hooray!

Japan Post stopped allowing us to send anything to certain countries (about 183 of them if I remember correctly) and I was kind of stuck. Now that we are in Step 2 I am told we can send letters, but not packages. That's fine because I only need to send letters.
The reason is that Japan Post relies on commercial airlines to transport their mail, and so many of them are not operating now.
We have always been able to receive mail from other countries. Japan is not allowing any foreigners to come in right now and some Japanese people also have trouble getting in if they don't have a way home from the airport with someone willing to pick them up, and they will be in quarantine for 14 days.
How is your mail system coping? I'm interested in what other countries have done.

@petatonicsca Thanks, we are but are now being pressured by other states to open the border. That might see some changes.

I think this is the situation with all the countries..all have closed contacts with other countries and so to and fro of both people and products has suffered a lot.

Yes, and I'm pretty happy that I can do most things I need to do online. No way am I getting in an airplane for a while.

Wow, nice connection. Nothing like an insider's information! I have a soft spot for all postal workers. My dad, who was a history teacher, worked his way through college as a postman.

Japan is always strict with the quality including quality of life. I hope that the postal system will not bring in more problems with the virus.

@petatonicsca yes, as you said it, the travel ban was in effect. Even here we also have a travel ban although it is lifted once in a while.

I don't think that was the problem. It was lack of international flights.

I think so. For you too, right? Our contact tracing shows we know where more than 52% came from and a lot are hospital or night life.
