It tastes extra good when they naturally ripen on trees. My neighbors got these papayas from their farm house on the out skirts of city. And they shared two of them with us. Well, in this pandemic crisis we have not met each other in person or had a coffee together. Earlier we met for walks together and would bump into each other's house over warm chit chat and a cup of coffeee.
But still we catch up and have a chit chat from each other's terraces whenever we come across each other. Yesterday evening she called and told that she would drop two papayas fresh from their farm house on our door and ring the bell. So now we have two papayas. One is still raw and will take a couple of days to ripe. But one was ripe enough to be consumed today. And it is really yummy! Organic fruits taste heaven and especially those that ripe on tree.
Due to power and Internet interruption ( our city is facing this today due to the heavy storm and wind we had last night), the online sessions went a little longer than the schedule. So I am a bit delayed for my mid morning snacks.
Now it would be lunch time in an hour and my children will get a break from their school classes to have lunch. I am half done with the lunch preparation but need to finish the rest half. So till I enjoy my papayas, I would hang in here
The picture is of one of the papaya plant in her farmhouse. She shared it with me when she visited there yesterday.

Papaya is a good choice of fruit...full of health and benefits especially for ladies and elderly. We too are having mangoes as dessert these days for our meals. Soon summer will be over and we have to wait for a whole year for these sweet delights. So lets enjoy them fully.

It's good to have fruits and veggies grown in home. You get fresh and organic one.

I didn't know that it tastes good when you let it ripen on a tree. We live in a City, and we don't really have a yard to plant a tree, so most of our fruits are from the market, my mom likes buying the unripen papaya and let it ripe in our house, she kept it inside a newspaper. Lol!
Thanks for sharing

Yes it does. I too take unripe ones when I buy from market and wrap it in newspaper for few days.

@Shavkat Yes. A big pot is good enough for them. You can grow them on your terrace.

Oh! I would love to. Two years back I had a papaya tree on my terrace and I shared the produce with all my neighbors. Papaya is full of health benefits. Not only helpful in digestive issues, ti is packed of iron and other minerals.

Yes. Since it's imported, it's not fresh and straight from tree. Also cold storage kills a bit of taste and goodness. Local produce always taste better than imported ones. I have experienced it myself.

Yes she has a couple of plants like that. She shared it with a few families. It was quite more than they could consume. They are in a joint famiy with ten members but still they had more than what they could consume.

Papaya is a very tasty fruit. Both the ripe and raw can be eaten . Raw papaya can be used to make curry. you can grow your own papaya with the seeds

I use a lot of raw papaya for curry and sambhar. Two years back I had planted one in a big pot on my terrace and had enough produce to share with my neighbors. I tried it few more times but it did not work. Maybe I should try with the seeds of the next papaya that I cut. Thanks for reminder.
