I have started believing that lockdown we had was a waste of time

Considering the situation we are in today as far as coronavirus is concerned, I think all that lockdown we had before the virus had truly entered the country and praised by many as the most effective lockdown in the country is waste of time and energy. We could not effectively control the virus but put our economy in shambles. It will take months or even years to get the economy on track. The fear of virus still continues people still get infected and weaker ones still die. This situation would have arose 2 months back had we not opted for the lockdown but we could have saved the economy from rupture to great extent. I don't blame our politicians because that was the formula adopted by China in effectively controlling the pandemic but only difference was that it is a dictatorial regime and ours is a democracy. The story could be true worldover. What are your views on this?

I am against lockdown ever since it was imposed here. It will make people hungry but the disease would keep on spreading. We have less than 100 cases when the lockdown was imposed but the cases kept on growing. Now we have 30,000 cases and the government cannot impose a lockdown anymore. Maybe they realized their mistake for locking us for 3 months.

As you must have noted I was for this lockdown but I have realised now that it is of no use. We are in need of lockdown more than we needed 2 months back.

@msdivkar that is also my take that the lockdown should be enforced now that cases are many. But we cannot go on lockdown anymore. The government has no money to feed the people.

It is dilemma... off course im so sad knowing economy situation is mess... many people lose their job. Poverty increases everywhere, especially at my country which the wealth level is still middle low. Lockdown is scary due to this economy condition. But in other hand, our medical team cannot cure the explosion covid 19 victim in one time, because of the cureness deficiency. Lockdown is threatening us... so the wise way is not to lockdown but have limitation in a big scale, in certain sectors..

I think the best solution is to have the vaccines. We cannot control it totally because the virus is not being suppressed.

It is still some time before effective vaccine comes to the market. By that time we have to live with the virus by observing effective social distancing measures.

@msdivkar These things are the only option for now. Self-discipline is also the key factor.

According to me it was effective but problem what happened that people not take seriously. Its enough time of 2 months of staying at home. Its all depends on us as how we take care because by this lockdown or no lockdown first time its not effect politics as most citizen facing problem by other citizens carelessness. Now situation is that another lockdown we can't afford because people lost their jobs and no money.

We are not a dictatorial regime like that of China and in democracy there is a limit to the extent to which you can enforce the lockdown.

Lockdown saved the country. It gave time to control the infection and get country prepared for it on health and other front. Our rate of infection or doubling could have been scary with our kind of population density. But yes lockdown can't be extended for too long. Now people have to act sensible and responsible. Sadly we have many morons who are putting so many at risk.

It was a wild thought considering that we require lockdown right at the moment than ever before.

@msdivkar Yes even I feel the same. Somehow people are not taking it seriously and following all that needs to be followed.

China could do it because it is a dictatorial regime. We could not. Your husband is right. My view initially was wrong.
