When do you eat your salad?

I went out to dinner with a couple people tonight and we had the discussion of when people eat their salads. Here in America, we generally eat it BEFORE dinner, but one of the girls I was having dinner with said that other countries (like Italy, specifically) generally eat their salad AFTER dinner. So, when is it salad time for you? Before or after dinner?

It depends on what mood I am in :) My fiance's family is originally from Italy and my fiance love to eat salad after his dinner even though he was born and grew up in USA.
But when we go out and eat at restaurant,most of times it's served before our main meal and he eats at first without any hesitation.

The girl who mentioned that in Italy, they eat their salad AFTER dinner, actually pushed her salad aside and waited to eat it until after she had eaten some of her main course. It was kinda funny. She has family from Italy, so she's Italian and I guess she's always had the preference to eat her salad afterwards. I think it's kinda funny and odd, but hey, to each their own!

I typically eat my salad prior to my main meal, but after an appetizer. The salad is an essence part of our meals, it helps to fill us up with taste rabbit food that is packed full of vitamins & nutrients that our bodies crave.

im in the US as well but sometimes ill eat a salad as my meal and sometimes with it, it just depends if im home or eating out, my mood, where im eating, as well as alot of other contributing factors

I am from Mississippi and I thought I was the only person in the world who liked their salad at the end of the meal. If I go to a full service restuarant I have no choice but to eat my salas at the beginning of the meal. However, if I go to a buffet I always eat my salad last! Why ruin a good meal with a salad.

differnet cultures eat different ways. for americans its normal to eat salad before dinner or with dinner. for some cultures its normal to eat after dinner. personally if my salad is served before dinner i eat it then but i prefer my salad with my dinner.

before because that is the best time to eat salad because when you eat a salad before whatever else you eat you fill up faster from eating the salad first.
