Meet Honey!

The day before we left on our trip to MO, someone dumped a little dog off. She is actually still a puppy but from the size of her feet will be a big dog. She is the color of honey with some white on her face so we started calling her Honey!
The reason I say she was dropped off is because she had grease on her coat and was limping. This of course, could have been from being hit by a car.
She was still here when we came home so we now have another dog to add to the collection. Honey follows me all over the yard, to the mailbox, to the chicken coops, to the burn pile and anywhere I go. She hasn't been too naughty but is still in the biting stage. So far she has only gotten in trouble a couple of times and that was for getting in my garden. And yes, she chewed a plant. I am hoping that we have broken the habit. She listened to my verbal command the other day so there is hope.
Have you ever had a dog adopt you? We have had several dumped here and a litter of puppies left on my back porch as well as a few lost hunting dogs show up. I need some stock in dog food companies!
Photo is of Honey and Jessie (another stray) checking each other out.

What a beautiful dog! No, I don't think I have ever been adopted by an animal before. But that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future!

Haha, I guess you have to be in a certain place at a certain time!! She reminds me of another stray that just disappeared one day, Red. He had a great temperament and was a good dog. He would come and get me when he found "odd" things in the yard. It could be a snake, one of those big grasshoppers or something that was gone by the time we got there. My grandson would lay out in the yard with his head on the dogs back and they would snooze! Such good memories

You sound a lot like me. My sister was always finding unwanted dogs and wanting me to take them. She knew how much I loved animals. I had two dogs and a cat that she found. One of those dogs was my precious Bella who passed away in January. I had her for eleven years.

Can't turn away a starving dog! End of case! We had one hunter stop and ask where THAT dog came from. My husband told him out of the woods; she could barely walk she was so hungry and dehydrated. He said that is my dog. Why did you take her tracking color off? He told him she didn't have a collar on when she got here dude but if that is your dog, you are welcome to take her home. Some people just have to be jerks. He could have thanked us for taking care of her and feeding her. Idiot!!

I wish people would try to find responsible homes instead of throwing dogs out. I found homes for all the puppies dropped off here and the strays we couldn't keep. Word got around and two of these people fell in love with the adopted dog and wanted one themselves. And one adopted more than one over the years. Sadly they moved up north.

@kareng I do too. I kept Jill as I let mom get pregnant and couldnt get Jill puppy sold. That was my choice to let them make her. Have to say I love my Jill dog so it was meant to be for some reason.

It upsets me so much when someone abandons a dog. I hope she is OK. I am glad that you took her in.

Wow, 19! That is a lot of doggies! I can relate to the one following her home. We had a little of puppies thrown into the ditch down the road from us. There were four or five of them and at the weaning stage. They were SO cute. I went home and got the dog food and put some out for them. Then I dribbled dog food along the road for them to follow me home. I got them all and it only took a little over an hour.
