Storm or Typhoon?

I woke up at 4AM and I noticed there were thunderstorms and flashes of lightning. i thought it will go away, but I was surprised because there was heavy downpour after several minutes.
I immediately switched on the TV set and watched the news if there is a weather disturbance in out region. Indeed there is: we are on public storm signal number 1. There was no strong wind blowing, but the rain is still continuously pouring to this very hour. Good thing there is no power disruption, and my siblings are enjoying watching movies on Netflix.
I searched on Google the difference between a storm and a typhoon, and hurricane and typhoon.
Now I know! Do you have weather disturbance now in your place?

@ridingbet The ones we have gotten haven't been too bad, although we have had some horrible ones with trees taken down and no power for days. We now have a generator if that happens again.

There was a strong downpour. It was like storming. I didnt see the news, but I know there is a storm somewhere.

we should expect typhoons and storms now because it is the rainy season; otherwise, if the weather is fine, we expect hot climate again.

We are having floods in parts of Japan. In my area we just are having lots of rain. We did have some thunder the other night, and we have had very strong winds. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow too.

It must be danger outside. You must becareful and stay at home. No storm in my place, as usually my weather is bright and heat.

there is no danger because it was just rain. the thunderstorms and lightning occurrence happened earlier
