Enjoying cycling, something I had not done for quite sometime

A few days ago I tried to test the bicycles ( together with my son) that I conditioned from our storage. We had a fun ride that I had not done in ages. I felt that I should do more of these besides walking to make me strong and less prone to getting infected by the virus. I also loved my new tan over that pale " quarantine white " skin lol. i enjoyed it so much because there seems to be a lot more people on their bikes these days, have you noticed the same thing in your place?
Lotters do you know how to ride a bicycle? At what age did learn to ride and balance? Do you know how to assemble and disassemble it or fix it if you have trouble on the road? Thank you so much for reading, kindly share, have a pleasant day and please stay safe

We want to ride as a family, but we need new bicycles . . . however we can't get them right now! Bike shops everywhere are not getting enough bikes supplied to them, so it is quite difficult finding them at all. Who knew this would ever happen! I think I learned to ride a bike on my own probably around age 6 or 7. I don't know anything about putting together a bike, but Hubby knows some. We have a Filipino friend here that could help . . . he custom makes bikes from various bike parts. You stay safe out there too!

@hereandthere Oh wow, over there too? Our local bike shop really didn't have much - I have never seen it so empty. I think they said they have a hard time ordering parts too . . . same as the bike supply . . . it cannot be kept up with the demand. There is someone in the shop who fixes bikes too. Is there still a transportation ban there?

it happened here, too. bike shops ran out of not just bicycles, but also spare parts because there was also a transportation ban. people were also bringing their old bikes to be fixed.

@much2say it has been eased up but in phases, some modes of public transportation are allowed, some are not, so it's still a struggle for the majority who are commuters, not for those with private cars.

Happy you had fun out on your ride. I hope you get to go more often.
I learned back when I was 6 or 7. Haven't been riding in years. I don't notice so many more bicycles, but a lot more walking

I had also observed an increase number of people walking besides an increase in bicycles. People had learned to walk instead of riding their cars on short trips since the number of people allowed inside vehicles are now limited by law.

@louievill Oh wow - number of passengers in a vehicle is now limited in your area? Here there is no limit on that yet. My state just put a masks rule into effect. There is a huge outcry. I don't know why. Everyone should do their part to stop this pandemic.

@louievill I know I'm not very comforted by the attitudes of a lot of my fellow Americans on this. A lot of people seem to think it is not real, or "can't happen to them". It disgusts me.
You're right. You never know when your body is a little down....

Lots of bad drivers in our country so there should be a bicycle lane.

@jobelbojel that's the problem with us, they suggested raising the bike lane but it's too expensive.

Stationary bicycles are a good and safer alternative but of course it's minus the fun of the real thing.

@louievill My husband would never let me go on the roads with a bicycle, it is too dangerous here.

@louievill This one would probably require more to fix it than to get a new one. Where I live right now, is not a good biking area.

@snowy22315 oh I see, it must also have some sentimental value. I understand, there are places that's not safe for biking, I also rarely go out to the National road and limit my biking and walking now inside our gated community whenever I need to buy something in our commercial plaza. I encourage my family members to do the same.

@epiffanie yeah that's me, for some reason I look very much younger than my age that's why I'm married to a woman 13-14 years younger. I guess it's not only me but Filipinos in general tend to age longer and so with some Asians. You look young on your picture too.

That's good, most kids even before the pandemic prefer their gadgets over something that would make them physically strong and healthy.

If the fuel price keeps going higher then we either ride a bicycle or switch to electric vehicles.

Yes, I love biking too but I don't get the time to do so. In this time of pandemic I saw a lot of people using bicycle as means of transportation and that sounds good for their health.

Mass transportation was difficult during last year's hard lockdown, biking also helps build body resistance against disease.

Bicycle is a good hard lockdown transportation cause you won't get infected unlike in an aircondition private or public vehicle. You would also get fresh air while building your body defense through exercise. It's banned because there is no more social distancing when it's time to eat
