How many of you have recliner chairs and do you enjoy sitting in them?

My grandfather had a recliner chair and I loved it. He used to let me sit in it when I would come to visit him. It was so comfy. I do not know what happened to it when he died. I wanted one, but, we live in a small place and really no room for one. I got a swing chair instead and put that on the porch and love it so much. I can fall asleep in my swing chair. So, for those that have recliners do you enjoy them and did you get them from someone or buy them yourselves?

I have a recliner, and I love it! I sit it in all the time (and often fall asleep in it). My kids also love it and will steal it from me every chance they get to sit in it. I don't mind, because I know how much I love it, so I also know how much they love it too.

@Hannihar Haha, no, she doesn't sit in it. I have never even really thought about that. I'll have to ask her why. She'll probably say, "Because it's your chair." On occasion, she will come sit in my lap when I am sitting in the recliner, but most of the time when we're together we'll cuddle on the couch.

Maybe she will get too comfortable in it and fall asleep and then when she wakes up not feel good about it.Too bad she does not sit in it.

I can understand why you fall asleep in it. It is so so comfortable. That is great that you and the kids love it. Does your girlfriend love it too and every chance she gets sits in it?

We have a recliner chair that my father loved. When he would visit us, he would take a nap on the chair after lunch to enjoy the cool breeze. That recliner chair is still here although in the stock room.

Not even the dogs want to lay in it? That is a shame.

Do you take it out and use it at times? I can see why he would take a nap on it. They are very comfortable.

We bought it for ourselves and have to take turns as we only have one this far. As we agree it's good to elevate ones feet and a recliner makes that easier. The bed is the best place but can't get much done there.
My parents had recliners too so I was familiar with them. I'm hoping by next year and once our couch is gone we can afford a love seat type recliner which had two side by side then there'd be an extra for a visitor.

@Hannihar The love seat recliner is basically the love seat couch with two sections that recline and lay back. Have you ever seen a what's called a love seat couch before? It's basically just room for two people to sit on it. I didn't grow up with one but my sister had one after she got a divorce years ago. It allows seating in a smaller apartment.
My husband gets the recliner most as he's here the most often. If I'm desperate I will ask for it otherwise when he goes into his computer room he will tell me I can have it. But, I can't mylot from the recliner unless I use my phone and I'm trying to stay away from doing it that way for a while to see how much better that works for now.
And even though it's made to put one's feet up, it doesn't work as well as putting your feet on two pillows on your bed will do to get your feet over your heart. So it depends on if you just need to rest your feet or have some underlying condition where you need your feet over your heart.

The reciner is fantastic to be able put your feet up if tired. How much do you both get to sit in it since you have one to share? That is great if you can get one. Someone else mentioned a love seat recliner. I thought maybe he was making a joke, but, I guess there is one.

I have not seen one before. That sounds very cool the way you are describing it. Thank you for explaining it to me. How I was thinking of the recliner is to sit on it and watch TV and you can put your feet up and can take a nap. It does not sound like it would work for you to work on the computer sitting in the recliner. It would be if you just want to relax and read a book and want to put your feet up.

We used to have a recliner but sold it way back when my grandmother moved into a nursing home up here and we ended up taking most of her furniture. Though she had loads of beautiful antiques and other pieces, there was unfortunately not a recliner among them! We have since gotten some other pieces, which have been nice, but still no recliner. I do miss having one a lot, and plan on getting one at some point. They're so comfortable!

Faye, did you mean a swing chair or a recliner chair? I used to sit in my grandfather's but I have never owned one. I have a swing chair that I love very much that is on the porch. I sit in it a lot.

They are and if you get a chance to get one or sit in one you will see that you may not want to get up from it.

It is very comfortable. I am not sure I could keep it on the porch in the winter because it rains here and no place inside for it so I got a swing chair instead and love it.

They are very comfortable chairs. People like to sit in them and up their feet up and possibly fall asleep in one. They are great and I would have wanted one but no room for it.
