Got a text about my COVID-19 test results....

In my last Discussion I explained that I had to go to the Respiratory Clinic as I've been having a bad cold. I don't know how things are elsewhere but here we can't go see our normal / usual doctors if we are having cold / flu like symptoms. We have to go elsewhere. I assumed I would be getting tested for the COVID-19 and I did and it sucked! Was a very quick process but was very uncomfortable!
The lady was so nice and supportive. She swabbed my throat and I gagged on it. Was such a small little thing yet made me gag. Then I had to get the swab up my nose and that was so horrible! Very much worth it! But horrible! I had never seen this test being done before so I had it in my mind that it would slowly go up the nose and then come back out again. Instead, it went so far up my nose very quickly and she held it there for I don't know, probably 5 seconds but it felt longer. As soon as it went up my nose my left arm quickly shot out in front of me like I was going to push her away. My natural reaction was going to push her away but I knew I shouldn't do that so I just kept my arm out in front as if trying to say "Please stop!"
She took it out and my eye started to water like crazy and I apologised to her for acting as if I was about to push her away. She was so kind and assured me that my reaction was normal and that many others do that.
So anyway I received a text telling me that COVID-19 was not detected. Like I said in my previous Discussion, I didn't think I had it anyway but no harm done in checking. The lady who did the test for me basically said this cold I have is just lingering and gave me a doctor's note meaning I can't go to the Childcare Centre for this week for my practical placement. I need to contact them to see if I can continue next week instead.
Thank you very kindly for reading.

Glad it’s negative but you can still have it. The rest is only 30% accurate about detecting it. You could be in either the early or late stages of having the virus. The only true way is to do blood test for antibodic.

@VivaLaDani13 antiboditics helps with infection not viral things.

@ShyBear88 I know. That's what the doctors said I had at first but due to being sick for a little over two weeks, they are saying how a viral infection can turn into a bacterial one. That's why I'm now having antibiotics.

@ShyBear88 Thank you for telling me that. I have heard of the test still being wrong etc. I have been put on antibiotics this morning. If nothing improves than I will ask for more help including a blood test.

@LadyDuck I'd hope so. Though I wonder if someone gets sick again with a cold if they would be tested again to be sure? I don't know if that's part of the protocol to do it again if someone was to get sick again.

I've heard so many stories about these COVID tests and how uncomfortable they are, and it certainly seems the stories speak the truth!
But at least you got the great news that you had no virus detected, and let's hope it stays that way :)

@VivaLaDani13 I believe the more we use MyLot during this pandemic, the less likelihood of us getting the virus, because we socialize with the distancing rules very well in place at the comfort of our homes XD

@Downwindz That is true. Basically the more indoors you are right now, the less chance you'll be infected.

@Downwindz That is very true. Was uncomfortable but at least I can say I had it done and the results were negative. And thank you, I do hope that you too and everyone on here will be safe from this virus.

It is horrible to get swab tests. I see people gagging with those swab.
March was the month I had slight fever and itching of throat. I am very well now. Was afraid to go to the testing centers because of the idea center or hospitals are crowded.

@marlina Thank you so much. Not 100% no. I was put on antibiotics this morning so hopefully that can help me out more. If not then I think some testing will need to be done.

The whole things sounds very horrible. I know you understand why they did it, but, it is still very uncomfortable. Your reaction was very normal and so glad she was nice and understood. I am so glad you do not have it. I hope you feel better soon.

And I am thankful that you wrote this post. I was beginning to worry what happened to you .... I am pretty surprised to read about the test being done feels a bit disconcerting. But this text was a relief. I am not as regular on mylot as I had been. Have you been able to continue your practical placement eventually?

@Sojourn aw thank you for your kind words. Sorry for the worry! Unfortunately after I went back to Prac I caught another virus so I have been sick for many weeks now. 5 - 6 weeks. And due to that I was unable to go back to Prac at this time. So there have been some changes in my course that I will attend a little bit later once I am hopefully better.
I hope you are well!
