Hi everyone!
I’ve been in Cape Cod all afternoon seeing our son’s new beautiful beach house. He owns it lock, stock, and barrel now and closed on it Monday.
He has been there since yesterday and was too excited, so invited us up to see it. We brought him lots of food, beverages, new blankets, pillows, sheets for his bed, new towels for all 4 bathrooms, and a giant bouquet of flowers. He was so grateful. And we LOVE his beach house!
We only stayed to look around and then drove 2 1/2 hours home. His girlfriend will drive up for a long weekend, then return for a busy week at home until the next trip.
I took this photo of our Doodles’ pumpkin growing in our yard. Doodle was our precious kitty cat who sniffed the pumpkin from which the seeds came. He will live on in our hearts and in pumpkins. I added the ears and eyes, but it’s definitely my baby.
I’m exhausted from a long day. See you tomorrow!

I love that pumpkin and I am glad it is a good memory. Sounds like a really beautiful house. The largest house I ever saw came with two bathrooms.

Gee, how I would love to see that beach house. I wonder why you didn't stay overnight when it is just a short trip of around 2 hours?

@DianneN oh, I see. Even with families distancing is important.

@Alexandoy Yes, especially since he is out and about and doesn't live with us.

So happy for your son to finally have ownership of the beach house. I'm excited for him as well, I know how joyous it is to take ownership of a new home. And one on the beach too, that makes it all the more exciting! I hope he gets many wonderful years of happiness out of that beach house!
Cute picture of the Doodles pumpkin. Is that the only one growing in your yard?

@DianneN It's a shame your son doesn't like the beach more. I am in heaven when I am at the beach. But he still made a wise investment, especially if he is continually getting offers on it.
Yes, your pumpkin does look like a kitty's mouth!

@moffittjc He enjoys it and swimming, but he's not one for sunbathing. I think when and if he sells it, he will make a killing. The house it turnkey and in perfect condition. Of course, the view is spectacular! I would love it for myself.
A Doodles Pumpkin!!!!!

Thanks, Jeff! It all happened so quickly and what a deal he got. He will use it for the summer on weekends and perhaps take a 2 week vacation. He may lease it, rent it, or sell it. He keeps getting offers on it and it isn't even for sale. If the right bidder comes along, he'll consider it. He's not much of a beach person and would rather be out diving somewhere exotic.
Doesn't the mouth look like a kitty mouth? lol
We have a few more pumpkins growing, but my son has a lot more. He gets more sun than we do.

That must've been a fantastic trip . . . you got to go out - and to the beach! My goodness it must be pretty sizeable with 4 bathrooms. That's great for your son . . . I hope you get to visit it often too as we know how much you love the beach !
Oh my gah this Doodles pumpkin photo is hysterical - oh I just know a lot of love is growing into these pumpkins !

@DianneN Oh my gosh - all that driving and only 45 minutes? I get that. We plan to visit MIL which would be an hour and a half . . . and we would probably only be able to see her through the window - but for how long. We'd have no intention of going to the marina or any restaurants or anywhere . . . so where could we really go but back home .
I love that your son takes care of all the details - he makes it safe for you guys . I'm sure his new beach pad is friggin' amazing !
It's funny you talk about sneaking out. My sister and I have sort of forbid my parents to go out . . . but we found out after the fact that they snuck out at times to do some minor grocery shopping, went to the bank and hardware store . . . just because they were curious . My sister and I discussed well that they are adults and can make their choices . . . they just need to make sure they do all the right things to stay safe. We are treating our parents as if they are teens .
My daughter loved the Doodle's pumpkin - she thought that was so adorable !

@much2say Exactly! Drive and return home safely!
OMG! His place is amazing and much larger than I ever imagined. It's really way too huge for a bachelor. I believe it was built for a large family. The views are spectacular, too. I hope he rents it, leases it, or sells it. The flood insurance alone can put him in the poorhouse.
You and your sister sound just like my son. We are behaving very well, but I have to remind my husband that it isn't necessary to go to certain places when I can order online. He's very stubborn and is one who used to go out every single day. At least he's been listening to me. When we go out, we are very careful. We shower immediately upon getting home and all clothes go right into the washing machine. I even sterilize the car and any door knob we touch. I also sterilize the doorbell when my son rings it.
Tell your daughter, the artist, thank you!!!!!

Would you believe we were there for only 45 minutes???
Our son aired the house out an hour before we arrived and stayed outside with a mask on. He made us tour the house alone wearing our masks. The house is friggin amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then we all wore masks and social distanced as we walked along the beach.
Back in the car and the long drive home. He is very protective of us and won't even let us shop. However, hubs snuck out a few times to gas and to pick up things through the drivethru at CVS. We have also gone for a few rides without our son knowing.
Thanks! I spotted that kitty cat mouth and the rest came naturally.

That was a long trip but surely worth every minute. How lovely to draw a cat on Doodles favorite pumpkin. Bubi came in through the upstairs bathroom window early this morning. Our bathroom windows overlook the roof of our garage. I think that Bubi jumped on the garden shed and from there to the garage roof and finally he jumped inside from the opened window (there were only a few inches opened but he is small). I heard him meowing and I went to the bathroom to FREE him.

It was worth the trip to see the house and our son. He made us tour the inside alone wearing masks. He's so protective of us! We spent time walking on the beach with him, all wearing masks, and after a total of 45 minutes were back in the car heading home. . Very exhausting for two old fogies.
That Bubi is so darn cute! He was itching to see you and found a new way into your house!!!!

We had to self tour the house wearing masks. Our son is so protective of us. We walked on the beach with him and chatted for 30 minutes wearing masks and social distancing as usual. We spent a total of 45 minutes there and headed home. What an exhausting day. lol
If you look at the mouth on the pumpkin, you will see that it is indeed a Doodles pumpkin!

Four bathrooms? Must be a huge house. I've been to Cape Cod a number of times for mushroom foraging. Great place.

@lovebuglena I'm familiar with Truro and of course, Provincetown. We tried staying in different areas each trip. I do love Chatham the most.

@DianneN My parents and I and some of our relatives and friends rented a house in Truro, MA. We went mushroom foraging somewhere near that area. We also went somewhere nearby to pick beach plum and rosehip. It was either the woods or some park. Don't remember. And we visited Provincetown as well. Beautiful place.

Thanks! We only spent a total of 45 minutes there. My son made us tour the house by ourselves wearing masks, then we walked on the beach talking and social distancing. After that, back in the car for a long drive home. At least we finally saw the house. It took my breath away!

@DocAndersen That is how I first discovered the Cape. Friends with a house invited us. They still have it, but it’s on the bay side rather than the ocean. Still, beautiful!
