Stained Glass Effect Crochet Pattern

I had some variegated yarn leftover from a project and this pattern came to me. I started with a row of single crochet with black yarn. Then I used double crochet for the variegated color for the second row. When the color started to change, I'd chain one and skip the next stitch on the previous row. The third row used black yarn in single crochet. When I came to the chain one space in the variegated row, I did a double crochet into the skipped stitch on the previous row. This is a good pattern for using up scrap yarn but can be done with any desired color combinations.
