Due to nationwide coin shortage, several Chick-fil-A restaurants are now offering to exchange people's coins with an unusual but great chicken delight deal. For every $10 of coins brought in, the restaurant will exchange it with $10 paper bill and a gift card for a free chicken sandwich. I read about that earlier today. Businesses that primarily take coins, such as laundromats, vending machines and car washes, likely stopped operating during the pandemic due to social distancing and stay-at-home measures. These businesses are usually key components in getting coins back to banks to redistribute back into the economy. Since they weren’t receiving coins, the flow of them back into the economy has been significantly reduced.

Our laundromat is still open. It never closes unless the water or electric is off. But banks won't give out coins anymore and the change machine in the laundry is broken. I wash the lighter stuff at home and only go to the laundry with the heavy stuff like jeans.

Wow, I had no idea. But then again, I have been trying not to read or watch news lately because it's very depressing.

@JohnKu I couldn't agree more. There are so many commercials that are trying to lift everyone up. Why can't the news do that too?

@JohnKu Yes, that is very true. I wish it was different but it's all about those headlines.

Yeah, for some reason news are focusing too much on the bad side of things nowadays.

I can't do that because I need my coins for the laundry machines near me. I don't understand why there is a coin shortage and why banks won't give you rolls of coins. Some chicken would be nice though.

Seems this pandemic stopped the coins circulation in the country.

Seems this pandemic is the culprit. Based on the news posted by Carol, various businesses that take coins stopped operating, thus killing the circulation.

That sounds like a good deal. We don't have that restaurant here, but I heard we might be getting one in the near future.

I'm not sure about that myself, I need to research this further. This is quite an intriguing mystery, hope it's not some kind of coin-eating monster or something like that.

I just heard about this. They are requesting people to bring their coins to the bank and exchange them for bills. Or use the coin to bill exchange machines in stores. It seems with people shopping online or using credit cards to avoid infection their is now a shortage as you mentioned. Just another way this virus has affected our economic system.
