Why people talk in their sleep?

During my internship before, I have a roommate who talks in his sleep. At first, I got scared because it was my first time to hear someone doing it. I have a wild imagination and thinking he was being possessed. Eventually, I realized that it is normal for him to talk when sleeping. Did you ever encounter this kind of situation? Do you talk while asleep? Image Credit: thehealthy.com

@CarolDM I heard that some people are sleepwalkers. I think it is the most serious one.

I don’t know, but I’m single so I don’t worry about any “secrets” slipping out while I sleep.

@Shavkat — I don’t know. My mom lived with me for a few years and she would mumble.

Those things he is unable to speak in wake up mode , he speaks in sleep mode.

I am not sure if it is the reason. Perhaps it is still associated with dreaming on something and he or she was talking in his or her dream.

I can't recall anyone talking in their sleep but I have seen my dogs legs make running motions and sometimes she'll whimper as if she is trying to bark.

I haven't seen my dogs do it. The only thing I noticed that they snore so loud.

I think everyone talks in there sleep. Maybe not every night but I’m sure we have all done it before. My husband talks in his sleep but for the most part it’s not every night. I’ve caught our kids doing it before. I’ve caught mySelf a few times normally when I’m having a bad dreams.

@Shavkat you thinking talking in your sleep isn’t a good thing? Grinding teeth isn’t a good think but talking with bad for you. Sleep walking, sleep eating is bad for you but dream wise talking in ones sleep has no harm to you.

I also think that I did this if I am so exhausted. Among all my siblings is that my younger brother did this often. I have a friend who grinds his teeth when sleeping. I think it is not a good thing.

Yeah, it happens to me sometimes as well. But I think it only happens when I'm very tired. My kids also talk sometimes when they're sleeping.

I am sure he is also scared to wake you up. It is not a good thing to wake up when sleeping like a baby.
