Now I don’t believe you’ll meet up with the Devil in Florida. However, in Gainesville, Florida you can visit the Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park. This is a little rainforest located right in the middle of the state. There is a sinkhole that is known as the Devil’s Millhopper. It is possible to go down into this 128-foot hole. You descent using ramps and stairs. At the very bottom, you can see fossils and bony remains in a muddy grave. It is fascinating to see the streams lining the limestone walls and seeing them disappear and reappear as you descend.

Florida seems to have a lot of sinkholes That does sound like a scientists dream to find fossils and such though. Sounds pretty neat as long as you do not fall in.

Jeff from MyLot wrote about this a little while ago. He likes to walk and hike and has been down in this park. It's a long way down! Have you been there?

I used to joke that the highest point in Florida (so notoriously flat) was the Sunshine Skyway. I didn’t know there was anyplace 128 feet above sea level there! Very interesting place. I was introduced to sinkholes not long after moving to Florida as a teenager, so I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to go down into that hole.
