Our maid has a cold

@Alexandoy Well according to some covid cough is dry and has no phlegm. But we should be vigilant about it since this is not yet proven but just observation from many who had it.

@rsa101 you are right, there are "millions" of opinion, facts, figures and speculations about covid. We do not know which is true.

There is no fever and it's just a minor cough that has phlegm. I am not worried by my wife's sister who is a nurse is very worried.

We had given here medicines already plus oranges and other food items. You are right, she needs rest.

@nawala123 yes, that is a good advice. She has oranges for snacks and good food in meals plus medication and lots of rest now.

We cannot be too sure so we have to impose safety measures like making her wear face mask in the home.

@crossbones27 it will work and it better be. Having a test for covid is a hassle.

@Alexandoy keep an eye on her and if she does not improve bring her to the testing clinic.

@LadyDuck we have tomorrow and the next day for observation. If her condition gets worse then testing is needed.

My wife required her to wear the mask. I am confident that it is just a common cold but we cannot be too sure so we do not eat together for now. The cough has not worsened but I have noticed that she has phlegm when she coughs. It is scary. If after 2 days her condition will not improve then we have to bring her to the testing clinic.

Today is the 3rd day of her sickness. If tomorrow she is not well yet then we will have her tested.

@just4him thankfully yes. She is actually working and not like others who has a cold that would stay in bed. She is still sprightly except for the cough. But she has improved now.

@Miracle_Maya it was surprising to me when I heard her coughing yesterday afternoon. So now it is just 24 hours that she is sick and I hope tomorrow she will feel better. We gave her medications, food and even oranges.

She is actually careful with the mask and shield. She avoids crowds in the market and she washes her hands once she comes home. But the symptoms of cold is the same as covid so we are kind of scared.

@Alexandoy it's very unfortunate that she has to catch a cold soon after the shield was introduced. Like you said, the symptoms are same and that's why it's very vital to be all the more cautious.

You are right. We still do not know what is ailing her.

@moffittjc the earthquake was far from here and it is in an island. We are in the mainland called Luzon which is not affected. Thanks for the concern.

@Alexandoy Hey, I just read about the earthquake in the Philippines. I know you live some ways away from where the epicenter was, but I just wanted to check in and make sure you and your family are okay. Did you feel the quake?

We are actually not sure that it is cold but it looks like it.

@nela13 it is early morning of Tuesday here and our maid still has the cough but not much phlegm anymore. We are not going to have her tested for now.

You are right. My wife's sister who is a nurse (husband is a doctor) freaked out upon knowing. She prescribed antibiotics and face mask in the house.

@hillhjill our maid is young and healthy so if it is covid she can surely overcome. Right now she wears a mask and is isolated.

@Alexandoy I honestly don't see the big issue with this as it has a very high survival rate and for most it's just a cold. Let the body do it's job.

She has cough and now has fever too.

@didinedhia as of the latest she is getting better. Just slight coughing, no fever anymore.

We were advised to quarantine her for now. Observation is for 3 days. If the condition does not change then she has to be tested.

The sooner the better because the virus is very aggressive and the health of the individual deteriorates very fast and there is no medication as such other than ventilator support, remdesivir injection and plasma therapy which are also not very helpful in people with comorbidity ( other pre medical condition like asthma, BP, heart problem etc ..).

You are right. The covid is always suspect.

@HannahKusKus our maid is getting better. Now is the 6th day of her ailment. Our doctor said it is most likely just a cold so we do not need to worry.
