It rained on our anniversary. We couldn’t have dinner on our deck. Hubs called our son and asked if he was willing to celebrate Monday or just drop off the dinner he and his girlfriend prepared for us.
Instead, our son suggested we come to his house and celebrate in his screened in porch. When we arrived, he didn’t want us to get our feet wet walking behind his house, so let us in through his garage, down his hallway, through the kitchen, and into his screened in porch. That was the first time we have entered his house since we returned from Florida in early May!
He and his girlfriend surprised us with wonderful conversations, lots of laughter, love, balloons, drinks, appetizers, and a delicious vegetarian casserole of penne, onions, garlic, spices, and lots of different cheeses. It was delicious! That was followed by a beautiful and delicious cake from our favorite bakery. He sent us home with a bag full of gifts. We have been thanking them all last night and today.
Our wedding anniversary couldn’t have been any better.

@moffittjc My other son is wonderful, too, but he lives too far to help out.
We appreciate everything they do for us. I think they believe we are old fogies.

Aw that is very nice, even if you couldn't do things in the usual manner I bet you will remember this one for years to come. How nice son and girlfriend wanted to host and make the day special :-)
My mom's birthday which must be close to your anniversary (Aug.15th) - we actually went to a restaurant - in a screen porch. We've been through drive thru, ordered delivery and curbside too, once or twice been to eat on a patio... but this is the closest we've had to dining at a restaurant since March. I felt fairly safe since no one was near by and the screen porch had lots of open air

We will remember this anniversary for years to come. It was so extra special. We tried to social distance as best we could, but it is what it is. Within two weeks we will know if we get the virus, since they are both out and about. When they were here two weeks ago with our DIL and grandkids, we didn't get ill. Knock on wood!
I saw that your mom's birthday was on the day before our anniversary - on Facebook. So glad you had a safe time eating out and celebrating together. We only had pizzas delivered here twice, but did eat on a patio a few times when we were in Cape Cod. We sat very far from the few diners who were there and let the breeze blow towards them.

@FayeHazel OMG! I think they are crazy!!!! Even if no one has caught the virus, they could still be carriers. You wouldn't want to subject your mother to the virus at all and are being smart!!!
My son doesn't know if he and his girlfriend are carriers, so he takes every precaution around us. I hope we all remain safe and that this virus goes away!!!!

@DianneN I would think (hope) that you are safe. My dance troupe still gets together in person with the exception of me, I Zoom in. there's 4 people counting me. One of the other ladies is fairly cautious , another goes out and about and the last one she said she "hopes that she catches it" . Well, with that kind of attitude I don't want to be around her until this thing is over. I don't think, with that kind of attitude, she would be do anything like extra hand washing or any of precaution. Apparently the other 2 ladies don't mind hanging out with her.
Anyway - they've been getting together in person since April and - even with the attitude of the one - no one is sick.
(Of course I still don't trust it) Anyway, that was the lengthy way of me to say.... I have hope that you (son and girlfriend too) will be safe from this.
Thanks! Oh that;s cool! So close together.
I agree, I think patio can be a safe experience :-)

@LadyDuck My older son was so neat and organized. Just goes to show you how genetics work.
Good riddance to all ex-wives. His ex is suffering, but our son has never been happier in his life. He and his girlfriend are talking about moving in together.

Oh, thanks so much, Anna! He has been a huge blessing to us as I'm sure you know. His girlfriend told us that he keeps his house meticulous and without the help of a cleaning woman. lol. I didn't tell her that he was a complete slob growing up here. I stopped trying to clean his bedroom. . Somehow, he changed when he grew up.

Thank you. Hubs was so pleased that we all had a good time, but then again, we always do when we are with the kids. We had such a wonderful time with them, and they made our anniversary so special. Our son is coming over with the leftover cake. Speaking of jeans fitting!

Thank you! Our kids are a blessing to us, and hubs is not difficult to please. Being with me and his children are the most important things in his life.
Our son just texted me that he's dropping the rest of the cake off here in a few minutes. Oh, the calories!!!!!!
