How is liking and loving different?

Can you love a person without liking him? I'm sure you can like a person without loving him. However, shouldn't we like the person we love? I have observed that there are some people who don't like the person they love. No matter how hard they try to avoid loving him/her because they don't like him/her, they couldn't control their feelings. Love seems to go beyond any emotion. Love reigns supreme. If you're in that dilemma, what would you choose? Leaving the person you love because you don't like him/her, or staying no matter what because you love him? For me, I'll stay because I believe love conquers all.

Like is a whole lot more honest. Love is ruled by hormones and hormones change over time.

It depends on what you can endure when you love that person.

Right, we love a person, even if we don't like them, so we tend to endure. Thanks.

That is a complicated post. There's no way you can love some one with out liking them first, specially if it's a another person. Family is an exception though unless the family member is truly evil, there's no way you can like some one like that.

Yes, that should be the case, but unluckily, there are a few couples who dislike each other but love each other anyway. Thanks.

I agree, except for family members. Romantic relationships should be monogamous. Thanks.

I would think you would have to like and love the person that you are with.

I would say that like is of the mind, and love is of the heart. When you like someone, you like because of what your mind likes about them, but when you love someone, you feel for them, because of how your heart feels for them. The two are as far apart, as your mind, and your heart, are apart.

Wow, such a profound and enlightening insight. I'll remember that:: like is of the mind, and love is of the heart." The discussion gains clarity. Thanks.

I think you can love someone and not like them if they consistently do things to hurt you. I think it's harder to stop liking someone you love. It would depend why i dont like them if i stick around or not because love doesn't just stop but just because you loe someone doesn't mean you stay with them or around them if theyre hurting you

Right, once the relationship turns abusive, even if you love the person, you should leave him. Thanks.
