In the picture is the cluster of Bignay that I picked from the tree. At first I had suspected that it was edible and I am right. After seeing the ripe red fruit it was tempting to taste so I did. Now I confirm that it is the Bignay fruit that is made into wine and also used in cooking.

Exotic fruits seem to be vanishing. Even the guava is not very common anymore.
