Need a new hiking partner

Today is my birthday. I turned 37. It took me a few days to decide where I wanted to go hiking. Last night right before bed I decided and we set off today about 9:30am. It was gorgeous out.
We had only gone about 1/4 of a mile and looking for a geocache when he started rolling his eyes.
Not long after he was complaining about the heat. Then next how he couldn’t breathe felt like he had asthma. There was very little air flow so I won’t discredit the asthma part as I know humidity bothers him.
Then he was grumbling about there being so many people and how we should have left earlier like 5am to get there early when it was cold and less people.
I told him how about the house he said I’m so negative it’s sad I told him every time he goes hiking with me he’s miserable and next time I’m going myself. He said he wishes I would have.
One point in the trail I said I think after I find this geocache we have to walk back down a little to catch the other trail. He refused and said we will just loop around. I said okay but it will be a lot longer walk.
We got higher up and I said I have to go find the geocache up there about 2/10 of a mile then we will come back. He wouldn’t do it so I told him to find somewhere to sit I’ll go find it and we can continue on the loop.
When I came back down he had seen a sign for beach and cabins and wanted to take a main road not the trails. I told him it’s really out of the way to go the road but he didn’t care. I didn’t go hiking to walk the highway I went to walk the trails so I said I’ll meet him at the truck.
The trails are dangerous in many spots. Me hiking 3 1/2 miles alone through that with no cell service was uncaring on his part. I wondered if he waited at the truck for me how long would he wait before coming to see if I’m okay.
I get got back to the parking lot and had to wait an hour for him to show up. While waiting I was bit up terrible by horseflys.
The way he wound up going he had to walk an extra 2 1/2 miles. Serves him right for not listening to me.
He was in so much hip pain he couldn’t drive. I gave him Advil and drove for an hour until he felt better to drive the last hour home.
He said to me he was sorry he was mean to me that when that pain comes on it’s agonizing. Ok so that was when he wouldn’t walk back down the trail with all the steps etc but it doesn’t excuse him being miserable the other 3 miles he walked with me.
I’ll have to hike with him on the honeymoon but after that forget it.
The nicest part of my day was a text from my daughter at 1am wishing me a happy birthday and saying she loved me. I was asleep so I saw it when I woke up.
After the hike I stopped at my parents quick to get some presents my parents got for me.
Photos just a cute one of my doggie cuddling with me a few nights ago.

At first, I thought it was the dog complaining.

@BarbaraPrz the dog with a fur coat would have much more reason to complain but they are like me and enjoy hiking. Unfortunately my fiancé’s lab loves water too much and I won’t take her around waterfalls anymore after she fell over one and jumped across a dam and almost went over the falls there too.

Cute doggie pic, and hate to say it, but you picked him. Married life will be more of the same, but probably worse. Hiking by yourself may be the way to go.

@snowy22315 I do depending on what other things I have to do during the day and where I’m hiking. Neat cliffs or waterfalls it’s scares me to much to take my dogs. They might fall over or pull me over tugging on the leash.

@shaggin Good, well maybe you should take one of your dogs with you. It might not be safe to just go off by yourself.

Aww, belated birthday greetings to you.
I hope you can find a hiking pal to go hiking with you who doesn't complain. It's not for everybody.
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
That was nice of your daughter to text you and so thoughtful of your parents.
Love your adorable doggie!!!!

@DianneN we were going to go down south to Virginia or somewhere warm that I have never been too but instead we are going up to my parents property in Lake George Ny. We can’t stay in the house with the dogs so we will be camping on a property they have. It will be chilly at night. My fiancé hates hiking when it’s warm so he will enjoy this. I used my gift card for American eagle to get myself two pairs of leggings to take to hike in.

@DianneN I’ve been there tons of times and wanted to go somewhere new but we can put the dogs in a crate inside the house in air conditioning if we want to go to a museum or winery or anything like that so that’s why I chose lake George when my dad offered it.

What's a geocache? If it was very hot and humid I would not want to hike for a long time. The heat and humidity tires me out.

@lovebuglena a geocache is a container that is hidden and using an app and a gps you go to find it. It uses coordinates to hide and find them.
I really didn’t think it was very hot at all but it might have been high humidity. We have very high humidity where we live. It doesn’t effect me but he says it makes it hard for him to breathe. I know my mom has trouble breathing in the humidity as well.

@shaggin We have very high humidity here in NYC as well. When temps are low but humidity is very high it is unbearable. For me anyway.

Happy Birthday, you must love hiking. If I had to go through all that, I don't think I'd ever hike again.

@bunnybon7 we have been together for 7 years so that’s more then some marriages last including my first one. I’m very worried things won’t get better and he will get nastier after the wedding like my first husband did. I’m pretty fed up already what a jerk he has been since two weeks after he proposed to me. I think he is stressed out knowing he has to leave the place he rents and he’s worried he will have to give up his beagles to live here which hopefully shouldn’t happen.

@JudyEv we will have to get up and go hiking early as soon as it gets warm he gets miserable. I love the heat. We decided yesterday not to go south on the honeymoon but up north to my parents little house in Lake George Ny. It’ll be much cooler there so he will enjoy that.
