A Worrier

I am so happy our grandson has yet another sport he loves.
I have been so concerned and upset with his ice hockey games and the fact that the teams didn’t wear masks.
Now he is excelling in horseback riding and won a second place ribbon this morning.
Living in New Jersey this summer has offered many other safe things for my grandkids to do. I just hope he doesn’t fall off his horse!
Why do I worry so much?

It's your job as a grandparent to worry about your grandkids! But as long as he is enjoying himself, try to enjoy it along with him.
And congratulations to him for winning a 2nd place ribbon!

@moffittjc True! I got whacked in the throat once and couldn't breathe, but hit that ball back to win the game.

He will be the best at riding horses in a few year! I guess you worry so much because you care about your grandchildren!

You are very close to your family and highly concerned. It is something similar to my wife, who too is "overtly" concerned. Yet beware sometimes this can make others around you feel a bit overcautious!
Or may be make them want to run away for some time!!

He's nailing every sport he plays now. Yeah, I noticed there's no mask though.

He already looks like a pro! I understand your worry and we never want anything to happen to our kids or grandkids.
I'm a bit of a worrier too

Because you are a good grandma, it is a worrisome time. I was at Clinton Crossing yesterday with Kasey and two of the boys and while people had to wear a mask in the stores, they were walking around without them. Freaked me out it did!!! Congratulation to your grandson, he looks so professional lol

@DianneN I did that in the beginning but I don't now but all of my delivery people wear a mask, with Door Dash too. I just couldn't live that way anymore especially after that trip home from Florida. So far so good, but I do keep social distance except with a very small group of people, a very very small group. Irene and I have stopped wearing masks when we are in her house or mine and Kasey and I mostly meet outside to visit. The boys wear a mask when they are in my house except for Jack and he goes nowhere so he is not much risk. At the Y we keep distance and they are very particular about sanitizing everything. It's a crazy world.

@BelleStarr I totally understand. We relaxed a bit visiting our son's house last week for our anniversary celebration. It couldn't be helped, although he spaced the tables as far apart in his screened in room. He also made us walk through his house, rather then walk through the wet grass to get to his screened room. Sigh.....If we didn't get sick when our grandkids were here, we should be good for a while.

Those non mask wearers freak me out, too! I requested that the Instacart delivery people wear a mask and clean gloves when they deliver to my door. So far, so good! I don't want to open the door to get my groceries with their virus particles floating in the air. I sanitize each item I remove from the bag, then sanitize my kitchen. I'm a nut, but like worrying, I can't help myself.

@LadyDuck He isn't a worrier and tries to pound sense into me. I think he's given up.
He is, however, very concerned about our grandson's choice of jumping, and instantly reminded me of what happened to poor Christopher Reeve who was highly trained and experienced. I'm surprised I haven't turned all gray by now.

We are so alike. I know how you worry, too. Our kids and even grandchildren are something we will always worry abou no matter how old or young they are.
Thank you! He's been surprising us a lot lately and seems to take after his father.
