Busy summer and tomorrow would have been my first day back at work...

First my youngest graduated high school they had a nice ceremony outside on the football field. Next, I spent an hour every morning 5 days a week and an hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays doing water aerobics (weather permitting) and since my oldest son moved out, I am deep cleaning my house. Then, after my youngest taking his time to get his senior pictures taken, I finally threw him a graduation party last Sunday. I rented the pool from 8-11 pm, the kids had a blast. Finally, I thought the school I work for started Tuesday, but they start tomorrow and when I left, I had a position, but because of the Covid, that is no longer available and I am back to being a sub. Since some students are doing their work at home, I am not too positive they will call me in tomorrow, or anytime soon. Which is fine, since my car is in the shop and I probably won't get it back until tomorrow afternoon, but I believe that I may have to look for a different job. I am still waiting for my son to get the last of his things out and then I will finish moving furniture and cleaning. Oh, and I did revise the prologue and first chapter of my first novel, maybe I can get the second chapter revised in time for PitMad, the twitter occasion where I might find an agent to help me publish my novel(s). That's all that has been going on with me. I hope most of you have not had your lives turned around the last few months, or if you had, that it was for the better.

@changjiangzhibin89 Yes, this year is wonderful. Even though my student is challenging, I can count on the staff in my room to be very supportive. So, how are you doing? What is the situation there with this virus?

Hi @changjiangzhibin89 , yes this year is the best. My first year all the staff would not help me or keep me updated on what was going on. Last year it was better, but I still felt out of the loop. This year, though more challenging, I am in a wonderful room and the teacher even let me grades papers one day my student wasn't there. I think she realized I can't just sit and do nothing, that I needed to work.

I hope you'll find a better job then the one you thought you had. This covid is really messing things up for a lot of people. I'm lucky to be retired, at least I wasn't displaced but that vicious bug

@Carmelanirel2 I know for sure I could never be a teacher. It is hard work and I don’t have the patience to deal with that many kids not doing what they are told to do or acting up.

@shaggin I can deal with the kids (somewhat) it's the paperwork, documenting incidents, and parents that makes me not want to do this job.

I'm a supplemental aid, I don't think I have what it takes to teach, because I have watched teachers, they have a lot on their plate. I'm doing okay, but my car is still being worked on and so my daughter is letting me borrow her car until I get mine back.

That's a shame about your job. Sometimes these things turn out to be blessings in disguise. I hope that is the case this time.

Hi @GardenGerty, yes I really love my summers off, but in order to do that, I had to save some money from my paychecks when I was working.

Thank you, it was my son who graduated and that's wonderful about your niece. My son decided to wait until the second semester to start college because I guess due to this covid one of his classes was online. The problem with that is, as smart as he is (4.0 GPA) he is not motivated to do work online. Evidence of this was before they shut down the schools, he was a straight A student, but when the last part of his senior year was remote, his GPA dropped to a 1. something. He got an F in math, but because of his super grades before, he passed and was able to graduate. So unless the society goes back, I am afraid he won't get a college degree.
