Yep, it took me all morning to make my special penicillin. It’s very special chicken soup.
I like to keep it on hand just in case we need it.
All this is going into our downstairs freezer just in case.
It’s very healthy when we get sore throats, colds, or feel crummy.
It’s also nice to have on a cool or cold day.
It’s loaded with chicken, carrots, celery, parsnips, garlic, and various seasonings.
Hubby loves it even when we are feeling mighty fine, but he’s NOT getting a drop of it until we need it.

A good prescription from Dr. Dianne . Good idea! Nutritious and tasty - I don't blame your hubby if he wanted some now. But I know, that's one less meal you'd have to cook some day . . . your soup is precious and so is your time! Curious if you put noodles or rice in yours?

@DianneN You know I do love my rice . But for soup it depends on what leftover I have . . . I like throwing in cold rice or pasta. I've made matzoh balls too (from matzohs not the boxed meal) and we like them, but I couldn't say if they are authentic matzoh balls .

@much2say I guess any of those go in chicken soup, and I figured that you love your rice.
I only make mine from the matzoh meal in the box, but it is ground matzoh. I'm sure yours were excellent! We like ours on the hard side, but many make them soft.

Chicken broth was the best of things to be had for all ailments. My grandmother gave it to us (then it was made with "real" chicken, no hormones). I still do it a lot during winter. I am not a fan of vaccines.

@DianneN I don´t usually eat in bed. But I like a mug of coffee or, in this case, broth to bed.

@marguicha Sounds good! I don't eat in bed, but usually make chicken salad out of the leftover white meat. Not today. I saved some of my chicken before I made soup to use for a special dinner for hubs tonight. Perhaps I can get him to make me a cocktail beforehand.

Oh reading the title gave me an impression that you made some special medicine out of certain ingredients.
I imagined beakers, flasks and some sort of chemical reaction(s)!
Yet, such a nutrient filled soup can be very good for health.

I love homemade chicken soup. I need to talk my boyfriend into getting stuff to make some in the winter months we eat a lot of soups.

@DianneN You are on a roll. When you go o Florida do you take any of the soups with you?

@Tina30219 I love to cook and there's nothing much else to do. lol
No, we hit the supermarket the day we get to Florida, then eat dinner out. Too exhausted after opening the place up and traveling there.
I do make soups in Florida though!

We usually have it the same day, but hubs had a huge breakfast and an even larger lunch. Besides, we are having chicken for dinner tonight. He was fine with not getting any. He will be very happy when he sees his dinner tonight.
Besides, I don't have any noodles in the house!

Depriving hubby of chicken soup is not good. I never froze chicken soup before or even just stock or broth. But my mom does that all the time.

@DianneN Sometimes you make stuff that requires chicken stock or broth and it's good to just take out of the freezer without having to waste time cooking it. And you know exactly what went into it. With store bought who knows.

@DianneN When I eat chicken soup I use the liquid and cut up the veggies that were in the soup (carrots, celery, even onion) and put into the soup bowl. I also add pieces of chicken (whole if wing or drumstick) and then sprinkle roasted sesame seeds and cut up fresh dill. Usually don't do noodles. Sometimes may add matzo balls. But those usually do during Jewish holiday.

Homemade chicken soups are the best! The last time I had one was 7 months ago - If my memory serves me right. My mom cooked it for me as I was feeling under the weather that time
