Homemade Banana Bread is Done

Usually the baking I do is in the cooler weather months. But I had some bananas that needed to be used. Instead of wasting them I decided to bake a loaf of banana bread. Very easy to bake. I use my dear grandmother's recipe. Mix all the ingredients and throw it the pan. Now it is done. The house smells so good. I may have to sample it soon. It is good with a little melted butter. Or a scoop of ice cream. But my favorite way is to eat it one slice at a time. Good stuff. Do you have a favorite dish or dessert you like to make?

Although I do love banana bread, I do not have a good recipe for it so do not bake it. I do have a lovely recipe for pecan cherry loaf. I make that at Christmas. It is nice to have in the mornings if you do not have anywhere to go and can use a little slice as your breakfast. I made a loaf for our daughter-in-law's sister and for her mother last year. Her mother told me that she enjoyed it so much. It made me feel very grateful as she is such a wonderful cook herself. Its almost time to hunt up the pumpkin bread recipes, it won't be long until I want some of that handy.

@Juliaacv Not sure why but my garden pumpkins turned orange early this year so I have had two pumpkin pies and one pumpkin cake and its not September yet!

@sallypup It has been a really strange year as far as what is ripe and the timing of it. Enjoy your ripe pumpkins. I have a feeling that we are in for an early and short autumn season.

Well we ave some home recipes which we call as "Halwa" - basically sweet things cooked in Ghee(clarified butter). We have Suji(Indian Semolina- not sure under what name is it sold in US) or Besan(Grounded Chickpeas)Halwas which we like to make. The Suji one is one which I have prepared a few times myself!

@CarolDM During the last one week of festivity, we had a lot of oily and sweet food. Now we need to tone down.

I have ripe bananas in the freezer waiting to be made into banana bread, but we aren't sweet eaters, so they will stay put until necessary. I love to make New York cheesecake.

I usually make this maybe once a year, not big eaters here either but I needed to bake it, so why not eat it. I love cheesecake, a favorite for sure.

Hey turn that bread around, I think I see a tailless unicorn. I've never made banana bread, mom always did that but one day I will. I love making almost anything one pot or pan.

That looks wonderful. I recently made butternut squash bread. I used a pumpkin bread recipe. Butternut squash and pumpkin are alike. They are interchangeable in bread recipes.
