Nope! Not since Doodles the cat passed away last November 12th have I stepped foot into that part of my backyard.
That spot was one of his favorite places to walk, sit, listen, and stare.
There he found chipmunks, mice, frogs, moles, mice, toads, and worse - snakes!
I only walked there with him, because I loved him with all my heart.
Now, I will keep away from that spot. No need to go there anymore.

I know the feelings on this.Having lost two dogs they are buried in our yard.
Now and then walk by and remember all the nice days we had playing in our back yard.
Ms.Ruby here mostly Mike's dog he got her at the shelter where he was working at that time.
Now the relationship much better than it was.

@DianneN perhaps one day you may feel differently. A bench there to sit and reminisce of him might be nice.

It's totally understandable about not wanting to go to that part of the yard. I know you miss Doodles so much. I miss him, and I never even met him!

@DianneN Wow, that is great that you got three visits from Doodles in the past week. It's great that you still talk to him. I know that also probably helps with the healing process.

@moffittjc Thanks! I missed him so much when we were in Florida, but felt more soothed once we returned to CT and was able to be that close to him. Grief is an odd thing, but I'm grateful for the time we had with him. I cry for him, Sharon, and Ruby now.

Thanks for understanding, Jeff. I'm really glad that I can visit his and his sister's graves in my rock garden. I have things to discuss with him every day. I told him to please visit me in my dreams and that he did - 3 times the past week.

You can consider it "sacred ground." Interestingly, it looks like my music friend Michael's back yard, where Charlie, the Cat Mayor of their five or six adopted cats, used to roam. When Charlie (whose purr box was MINE when I came over to visit) couldn't get up any more, they finally put him down. I still miss him when I go over there. It's only been two months.

I know how hard it is to loose a fur baby....We lost Bella and Garfields Mom Willow, to a wild dog when she snuck out at our old place..

@Michellekidwell My father told us our dog went to live on a farm with his mother and father. We believed him.

@DianneN It was, I definitely see a lot of her Moms personality in Bella Rose...I never really had the heart to tell Little Miss what happened, she thought she ran away, and I thought that was best to let her believe it, especially because just months before we lost our poodle Abby, who thankfully went peacefully and did not suffer she was thirteen and a half...

AS you move on, the good memories will be more important than the fact that he is not with you any longer. It has happened with me in my memories with Misty.

So sorry Dianne, yes, if it isn't a comfort - then there is no need to go to that area

It still hurts and i understand you. I would avoid places that reminds me of someone i dearly miss so much.
I’m taking a peek here again. Been really busy recently.

I had no idea that the funny and peaceful Doodles passed away last November. I am so shocked by this news Dianne, forgive me for not being around to show support. I totally understand that you want to avoid the backyard for what it reminds you. I really hope from the depth of my heart that time heals any wounds that Doodles' passing left.

@DianneN so sorry to hear that. I would have done the same and bury my pet nearby so I can visit to get solace.
