Do You Have Nomophobia?

I don´t have but I see to eat that I have it all the time when I am outside the house just in case I need it. Nomophobia is a short word of NO MOBILE phone. It is a fear or anxiety of not having a working mobile phone at hand. Someone who has this fear is I think already addicted to a mobile phone. He or she feels uneasy when her/his mobile phone is out of hand or in a low battery. "It has been considered as a symptom or syndrome of problematic digital media use in mental health, the definitions of which are not standardized." Source: Wikipedia I came across this word yesterday when I was watching a German Quiz show. Nomophobia is the new word that I have learned and I am sharing this with you. Do you have nomophobia or on the way to having this "illness"? Thanks for reading. Have a nice Tuesday everyone.

I used to have this condition years ago, but no longer. I can do without my phone if necessary.

@thelme55 Yes, I have had that trouble before too. Now I place it in the same place every time so I can get to it if I need to.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That is good that you place it in the same place. Sometimes I looked for my phone as I didn´t know where I put it.

I´m too old to have it (although I could name you many other ailments that I´m beginning to have). But my eldest daughter has a severe case of it

Surely NOT, my smartphone is inside a drawer, I dislike it, my old mobile is in my handbag, just in case I need to do an emergency call when I am not at home.

@thelme55 I also have my camera all the time with me, it's because of the zoom feature that it's missing in the phones cameras.

@Hannihar I have noticed that here too with young people. Even when they are biking. They are lucky if not noticed by a policeman or else there's a fine.

@thelme55 I only use my phone when I have to. I see too many people just stop where they are and check their phone and do not pay attention to what is going on around them and have to honk and go up close and honk at them on my scooter because they do not move.

No I don't have it. I have managed to be without my phone before. In fact I could test myself to not use the phone for a day. I bet I would feel more oxygenated afterwards!

@thelme55 the problem with that is, first of all, I need a phone so people can contact me I have two friends in NYC who have no PCs second I want a regular phone not a smartphone and they are hard to find. Before it broke I had a nice flip-top phone.

No, I don't have nomophobia. I have a landline as well as a smartphone. If anyone wants or needs me, they can text or leave a message.

@DianneN My friends and family call on our landline when they couldn´t contact me or my husband. They can leave a message if it is important.. They are the only ones and our doctors who know our landline number.

No, I don't have nomophobia. I use my phone for the Fitbit and call or text my kids. Once in a while, I'll get a call from someone else, but not often. I can leave home without it.
