A pharma company Astra Zeneca has halted Covid-19 vaccine trials as one of the volunteers fell ill. Doctors and researchers will do a safety review before further trials are resumed. The volunteer was from UK and testing across US and other countries has also been stopped.
Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca said Tuesday it had "voluntarily paused" a randomized clinical trial of its coronavirus vaccine in what it called a routine action after a volunteer developed an unexplained illness.

This can happen with any vaccine during trials. Unless the illness is not serious and not related the vaccine trials can't begin. Hope other vaccines under testing are not facing similar issues.

Astra Zeneca had a safety mechanism which triggered the alert and so the covid vaccine trial was halted immediately. Note sure how robust other pharma company safety mechanism is .

That was a real setback to all around globe waiting for vaccines. It seems a safe and effective vaccine is not very near and we have to wait and live with the virus.

@jayanth_77 Once a virus is here, it's here for good. It doesn't leave. We have to find a vaccine or a better treatment to it.
