Do you count calories?

I do not count calories for myself, perhaps I should. I could stand to lose some weight. We do, from time to time count calories for my husband, because he NEEDS to gain weight, and he will often tell me he is not hungry or not very hungry. So tonight he had a blueberry shake made with Ensure +. It had probably 410 calories. Then crackers with peanut butter. He felt it was just a snack but I believe he had another 140 calories in crackers and 210- 360 calories in peanut butter. I did not measure it. I feel like he should have at least 600 calories for his evening meal. So this was good. I had a berry shake made with milk and sweetened with stevia, fewer than 200 calories for me there and 250 calories worth of peanut butter and crackers. I need to slim it down even more. I need to eat 400 calories for my evening meal. This was not bad though.

I've never counted calories .... and it shows I usually look for healthy food and just go with it.

Besides trying to make healthy choices I need to practice portion control. I was once told that a calorie is a calorie whether it is chocolate or a carrot.

Yes, I have so much the habit to count calories that I do not need a calories table, I know (more or less) exactly the number of calories of all food that I usually eat. Oil is the thing with more calories, followed by butter, sugar, nuts, jams, carbs... lean meats are the best, proteins in excess are not stored by our body, fats go to FAT.

The dietician wants hubby to eat butter and oil and sour cream and cheese. I need to limit those things. She wants him to be heavy enough he has some reserve if he becomes ill.

No I don't count calories, though I should to help lose some weight. I just am not that disciplined to keep up with all of that. I hope your husband can add the weight he needs to get stronger.

It appears and sounds like you and your husband are doing the right thing. Given time, it will work fine for both of you. I need more exercise, I'm thin but my muscles are soft as jello.

I've never counted calories. I've never had a problem with losing weight. Although it's been more an issue of trying to gain a bit of weight. But I am trying to make sure that I do eat enough everyday.

I work hard and muscle does weigh more than fat. Hubby does not need to gain that much. He does need to work out a bit and build some muscle, which will make him gain.
