What TYPE of online earning have you done over the years?

United States

I'm not interested in knowing the names of sites. I just want to know what kind of sites you've used over the years and roughly when you started. I started around 2007, and I've done PTC, forum sites, article sites, chat sites, GPT sites, music rating sties, survey sites and poll sites. I think that about covers it but I might have missed a few. I've tried my hand at transcription but I didn't like that. I've been naive a few times, but still managed to scrape a few pennies out of a site before I left it. My favorite site though is... mylot. Not just for the few bucks we earn, but for the conversations we have and the people we meet.

myLot has always been my 'go to' site since 2006. I tried Bubblews while it was up and maybe made $50 from it while it was paying. I quickly knew that it was not going to be sustainable, however. Before myLot, I was using Yahoo Answers (which doesn't pay its users at all) but I did try some survey sites (Toluna and one or two others) which made me a very small amount. I have played with the idea of affiliate marketing and some other serious online earning programs and I'm still in touch with at least one person who makes a living this way. I can only admire his commitment and dedication. It takes certain skills and mindsets to do this and, sadly, I don't believe I have those.

Oh yes, think I made around $100 all in all from bubblews. It was nice while it lasted, but I think a lot of us knew we should get while the getting was good. I don't know a lot about affiliate marketing but I think that's fallen to the wayside in the past few years. It used to be a hot topic here if I remember correctly.

It does take a lot of dedication for doing affiliate marketing, not an easy one to do.

Surveys can be hit or miss. I have found one really good site that works for me, but I believe it's only available in the US, UK and Canada. I know it's hard for people outside of those three countries to find earning sites.

@ScribbledAdNauseum you are correct, some survey sites are not available but the three sites I keep are at least legit.

@florelway I'm glad they are legit for you. Do you have to wait a long time before you get a survey?

@Tina30219 Well, we did have that hiatus for awhile when someone bought them out and it changed to a twitter like site. I'm glad they are back now though.

Mylot doesn't really seem like a lot of effort, which I think is why I love it so much.

I used to be on Bubblews and made quite a few thousand dollars, alas, at the end they owed me more than $300,00. I was not pleased as many other users . I also did Squidoo which was good while it lasted. I also had my own website for a while but gave it up,.

I think I made atleast $100, maybe more. I can't honestly remember how much I made, but I think I was one of the lucky ones and they only owed me $30 or so. Websites are so hard to maintain.

For me it is mainly just writing sites similar to this one and blogs and article sites. That's the bulk of any online earnings I have ever made. From time to time I will do surveys, but I am not a huge fan of them.

@porwest It's a site out of the UK. A lot of their studies are from Universities around the world and they can be interactive (watching videos, playing games etc) instead of just multiple choice / fill in the blank. Some surveys also offer the possibility of earning a bonus if you guess things correctly.

I have done the same. I also had some "real jobs" online although unfortunately, they were temporary in nature. They were great while they lasted though.

@snowy22315 Maybe, right now I am enjoying what I do and am trying to break into a writing career. I would really prefer it, but a side hustle wouldn't hurt either.

I wouldn't mind having a "real" online job, provided I could work my own hours.

@rakski That is very slow earnings. I do not do as well as some others do with surveys, but I do okay. I know some people have been able to make a decent income with it.

I do several survey sites. I did a couple chatting sites in addition to myLot. I did one writing site for a while. I am happier going to work and relaxing at home.

I used to do a few chatting sites but you barely even made chump change from those. I worked from the time I was 18 until a few years ago when I quit. I don't make a lot of money from home, but I don't have the same anxieties I did while working either.

I've done everything you have done except for the transcription. I still am active on some survey sites and panel groups. My writing has been on a hiatus recently. I should get back to that. I have been doing all this since 2010.

Welcome to Mylot! This is a great place to have fun and earn a few dollars each month. I've talked to a lot of people from the Philippines and it seems that they tend to find freelance work to be the most profitable for them.

@mochang Right, but I think if you can get the training easily, or if the company will provide the gadgets, then it is worth it.

This is my firts day in Mylot so I´m happy to see that this is a really good site to talked and have nice conversations, I personally worked for 5 years in a website that pays you for hearing and translating a conversation bweteen a client and the dealership. This past months I tried with surveys but most of the websites just works for US,UK and Canada

Yes, there's lots of sites out there that only work for US,UK and Canada. I hear all the time how hard it is for other to find work. I love mylot, but fair warning, it's more of a "cup of coffee" every month type of earning site.
