Whoever thought of Condiments (Ketchup/Catsup, Ranch Dressing, Grated Cheese, Dip, Sauce, etc.)

I eat lots of pizza. And I like to give it a dusting of 'grated cheese' (sometimes Parmesan, sometimes Romano ... or whatever kind I got from the store).
And if I'm eating french-fries, I'll squirt a puddle of ketchup/catsup next to it. Or chicken (usually fried chicken fingers with my pizza), a tiny bucket of Ranch dressing. Or on my beans (or really anything that isn't covered yet), a pinch of turmeric. Or on my ice-cream, a drizzle of dark-chocolate syrup.
It's been a while, but I've been known to cover my potatoes (usually mashed, but sometimes baked) with butter, salt, pepper and gravy.
But why? What is this 'urge' to put other stuff on-or-near my food (usually tasty stuff, but ... the taste usually doesn't make much difference)?
Does it make the diner feel like rich, haughty royalty?

All is necessary for a good meal or snack. History channel has documentaries about it from time to time too. A hotdog isn't edible unless you got mustard & sweet relish!

Why not? Maybe a little practice, and you could learn to enjoy the mix of seasonings they mix into the meat-mixture or hot-dog bun dough?
I've heard that some people (comedians, mostly ... the larger ones) have some foods that they only eat in order TO scoop up the condiments (chips, french-fries, pizza crust).
And the sauces & syrups & gravies DO serve the purpose of 'helping the food slide down your throat.'

@oahuwriter You think food tastes bad without condiments?

I only use ketchup for fries. You have it going on.

Our food can be magical WITHOUT them, can't they?

@mythociate I am not sure if I will like the food without them.
