Anyone Want a Free Turkey?

Come and get them! There were 18 turkeys walking in our backyard. . They are such stupid birds. Hubby had to chase them into the woods, so they would stop eating our grass seed. Whistling and hand clapping just doesn’t work with them. When we had Doodles the cat, he wasn’t fazed n the least. At least they slowly walked into the woods and disappeared for now.

Yes, Doodles has had several encounters with mating male turkeys at my son's first house. He found them all dull after that. Dragged a few from the air, too. He was my very brave little boy.

I miss having a turkey around. I'd go to my back door and call, "turk, turk turk!" and Henny Penny would come trotting up for her snack.

@DianneN I raised those hen turkeys from when they were days old so they were tame. I have two young hens right now that I bought when they were teens. Good gravy they are not mannerly. One flew at my face yesterday.

Now that's a well tried Henny Penny. These wild turkeys are pure ideas and not too yummy from what I've heard.

We have turkeys milling around our yard each day. Penny my neighbor throws corn out for the squirrels. They carry it into our front yard and bury it. 1/2 day later, turkeys walk through our front yard and eat the corn!

@DianneN I wonder what the turkeys do for food, during the winter. They probably eat what the squirrels put in storage! LOL

Agreed, they are stupid birds, haha. At my old house, we used to get some wild turkeys, as well. And my cat, I can't remember if it was turkeys, or geese, or both, but he would like to get close to them, even if he was like.. half the size of the birds

My cat captured a few flying wild turkeys right out of the air, and was brave enough to take on a mating male turkey. After that, he had no interest in them. Turkeys are so stupid that they drown while looking up at the rain!

Oh wow - you get wild turkeys out there too? Again, it's not something we would ever see in our yard . . . we'd be looking up what they eat - trying to coax more to come here . Doodles was the coolest - he was no turkey .

Yes, something else to add to the list of why not to live here. They eat insects, nuts, grains, and acorns of which we have plenty. Thanks! Doodles was my best boy!

If I could I would get a leash and take at least one turkey off your hands. I could not kill it but it could ramble about the garden here.

We should re-declare them the national bird during the current presidency. Then return to the bald eagle. Turkeys are everywhere here. The males will do battle with their own reflection in a chrome bumper.

@MALUSE It's pure karma! To think that most of his followers didn't wear masks, thanks to him, and came down or spread the "China" virus across America is a disgrace. I'm positive that if he pulls through, he will play it down and say it wasn't so bad.
