Last night I had a long talk with my cousin over the phone and she told me that she is preparing her documents because her US petition was granted. At 58 is it still workable to migrate to America and start all over again? Due to the pandemic her business suffered a lot being a travel agent. I once offered her to just stay with us when we get old, that if she prefers a simple life in the province. She doesn't have to worry about paying a rent, we can do some business together as long as she would switch to a simpler lifestyle which I think easy for her to adjust. When she discussed this to our Seattle based cousin the latter suggested that I join her instead in Seattle so it will be the 3 of us there. I understand my Seattle based cousin wants us to join her in Seattle so she doesn't have to hire housekeeping service lol
what do you think?

@florelway I disliked Seattle and I would not even go there for a vacation. I have visited many other places that I liked a lot more than Seattle, so many homeless in the street. There are 11,000 homeless in the Seattle area, that should ring a bell.

@LadyDuck I surmise it's not an ideal place to go. I rather visit Florida if there's an opportunity or maybe Canada.

I have never been to America. I never tried to apply for a Visa because it's not easy to get one. Our place Right now is my comfort zone, should I want to go to Seattle it will just be for vacation

From most friends that I know, many of them prefer to come home and retire in our country. As the old folks say "though how long the procession is, it still ends back in church". Currently, we're stranded here in NZ since March and I've been wanting to come home even if we're complete here - my two daughters, son-in-law and grandson. I miss the life back home where I'm busy with tending our garden and lawn and running off to meetings in the cooperative where I'm involved in our ongoing construction projects (especially a 5-storey hotel). The people we see here are only family and, occasionally, a few of our daughters' friends. We do get out to the malls or supermarket but I'm not that fond of going to malls. I miss my 4AM walks at the ovals and going to the seaside after to watch the sun rise and take photos.

@florelway Thanks. Aside from keeping an eye on our grandson, I also keep busy gardening here - planting rocket, tomato, capsicum, lettuce and spinach. So far, it's only the rocket that I've harvested thrice for salad. Stay safe there.

@florelway BTW, there's also a Mylotter here from CDO - Ms. Erly Maglangit. I've not seen her for quite some time. Perhaps she's busy with school work teaching in two universities.

You're right there's so much to miss here. Have you been here this time am sure you'll also become a certified plantita. Folks have turned to collecting and propagating ornamental plants. I am happy that you are active in a cooperative. I am also an active member of a cooperative. Philippines is my home where I get to see those people I grow up with. My friends are from Luzon and Mindanao. Though I now stay in Mindanao I still get to see my friends in Manila. Hope pandemic is over so we can go back to our normal life again and you can also go back to the Philippines.

She wants to go to US so she can enjoy a US pension later on.

I'd stay put to avoid cleaning someone else's house.
The US is a beautiful country, but Seattle is not the place to move to. It is a magnet for homeless people, currently at 12,500!
I certainly would visit before making a huge decision like that and after the pandemic.

@florelway
Perhaps it had jobs available or she knew people there. It has gone downhill over the years.

I even have not much time to fold my undies much more clean someone's house lol. It's not in my bucket list to spend my old age in other countries. If ever I go to Seattle it's just for vacation. Anna also said she disliked the city with many homeless people. I wonder why my cousin decided to settle there. My former officemate also settled there.

At my age I'd rather stay and work here in the Philippines. If given the opportunity I would love to go to Seattle but only for a short vacation.

I believe wherever it is as long as it is USA, it's purely for economic reason that she's going there.

Seattle is going through quite a bit of unrest and rioting lately. Hopefully, your not visiting an area close to all this violence.
