Our other wildlife find was in the form of feathers; wild turkeys. We were on our way to the Sugarland Visitors Center when we saw this flock of turkeys in the late afternoon. We were about to turn off on the road to the visitor's center when we saw these guys.
After turning in and parking I went to get a couple of shots of them. They seemed to be helping themselves to grazing on the field there off the road.
We saw the same flock a couple of evenings later when we passed through. They were in the same area but across the street from where we originally saw them.

They're grazing on the green field. That means nobody is feeding those wild turkeys.

@Nakitakona I'm sure they would if they wanted to, but there are a lot of tourists there and too much cement for their liking. I don't live there and don't know the regulations, so I'm just guessing here.

@kareng Are these wild turkeys allowed to loiter inside the city?

I live near a creek called Turkey Creek, and it is aptly named because of the abundance of wild turkeys in the area. Early in the morning when I'm on my way to work, and late in the evening when I'm on my way home, dozens of wild turkeys can be seen along the side of the road grazing on the grass. It's a pretty neat sight to see considering I live in the city!

@kareng I love the abundance of wildlife that are up this way in north Florida. Even in the city we see deer, turkeys, foxes, etc. I never saw any of that when I lived in south Florida.

They seem kind of cute. Never been that close to a turkey I wasn't eating. They seem like interesting birds.

@kareng Reminds me about a time where I went to a petting zoo. A chicken followed me around for some strange reason. In one of the apartments I lived in, we had a lake. If you weren't paying attention, ducks would walk into your apartment. One actually did once... and several times, I would have to try and distract a string of ducks from following me inside.

@kaylachan I'm sure that was comical the first time but got old after it happened a few times.

The kids were only toddlers and didn't get close to the turkeys. Parents were videoing them with turkeys in the background. When they headed out they appeared to be after the turkeys but the parents did call them back. It didn't scare off the turkeys since they were not a threat and not close by.
