Little Pigeon Forge River

One of my favorite things in the Great Smoky Mountains is the Little Pigeon Forge River. I took a lot of photos of this "little river" while we were visiting. It's just fascinating to me. The Little Pigeon Forge River runs through both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. It has many twists and turns and freezing cold water! It's beautiful whether you see it on a calm day or after a day of heavy rainfall, which was the case on our most recent trip. The water was high and rushing along over the stones. I can remember visiting this little river in my younger days and getting out of the car and taking the shoes or sandals off and going for a wade in the stream. I hope you enjoyed the photo. We get to visit there every couple of years at least. One year we went three times. I'm hoping to get another visit in next year.

This one has lots of big boulders in it and not passable in many places. It is a beautiful little river though! One day I'll get brave and go white water rafting..but in the summer!!

@kareng — have you ever taken the trail from Gatlinburg to the Sugarlands Visitor Center? I walked some of it a couple or years ago...didn’t make it all the way (because it was hot and I knew I’d have to come back!), but it was lovely along the river!

Yes, you can still see in some places where the fire hit but mostly all recovered.
