When I first heard of the name "Mighty Joe Young", I was thinking that the name is that of a pro boxer or pro wrestler. I saw able to see the movie this past weekend on Memorable Entertainment Television (Me TV) on the show that plays on Saturday night. I was amazed how the host of the movie mentioned that the gorilla and his owner are really good friends who left their home in Africa to pursue fame and fortune only to find out that life in Hollywood is not all glamour and fun. This is just my opinion since the reason that "Mighty Joe Young" is not as popular than "King Kong" is that Mighty Joe Young did return with his friend Jill Young safe and sound while King Kong died at the end of the movie. What is your view?

I guess a main character dying sells more tickets than a happy ending these days.

It's been a long time since I've seen this movie. Mighty Joe Young wasn't as scary; so it's not as popular.

You have a good point since Mighty Joe Young did save some orphans who were trapped in a fire near the end of the movie.
