Returned a book to the library but it's still checked out

I had a book checked out from the library that was due November 5th. On Tuesday, I dropped it into the bin at the library—that's how returns are done now due to covid.
I just received a reminder email from the library telling me that my book is due November 5th. I was surprised to get this email since I already returned my book.
I logged into my public library account and noticed that the book is still shown as checked out. I wonder why that is. I hope the book didn't get misplaced by them or the return didn't go through.
I checked out three other books and never had this issue when I returned them. I wonder what happened.
I may have to call the library to find out what happened. I would go there but the only thing we can do is drop books off into the bin to return them and/or pick up books already checked out for us and then leave.

This is the first time it happened. I went to the public library website and found out that due to covid returned books go into a 96-hour (4-day) quarantine. Maybe that is why my book still shows as being checked out. Maybe they wait 4 days before they process returns.

I will check in a few days and if the book still shows as being checked out I will contact the library.

The library website said that returned books are quarantined for 96 hours (4 days). I am thinking maybe 4 days have not passed yet and the book return hasn't been processed yet. I logged in today and the book is still there in my account. I will wait until Monday and check again. If it is still there I will contact the library.

@LindaOHio I will check my online account tomorrow and see if it is gone from there. If not, I will have to contact the library again.

I had this problem before and I had check with the library. In the end, they had acknowledged that the book was returned and they waived off any penalties imposed to me.

Due to the pandemic they are waiving all late fees until the end of the year. But I don't want the book on my account if I don't have it anymore. Will have to straighten it out with the library.

At first I thought so but I logged into to my library account on line and the book still shows up under checked out items. That means the return has not been processed.
