I Have Done My Duty And Voted

I did my civic duty, and cast my vote. Let me just say that I am very proud of having been able to do that. In this great Republic we call the United States of America, this is a cherished freedom and right to be able to pick and choose who gets to lead our country.
I do not need to say who I voted for, or how I voted.
The point is that elections are important. The exercising of our rights and freedoms is important.
I have strong faith in our system, and while there may be problems in our election process as there are in many places, I believe our system is fair and mostly just.
I also trust in the American people. We may not always be in the right mind when we cast our votes. But I think in the end we ultimately get it right, and the country prevails.
The outcome is, of course, not always what I want. But I think in the end, so far as history will tell me, we have never voted for the absolute destruction of America.
May America speak, and may Americans have their say, and no matter what the outcome is, I will accept it. I can do that HAVING faith in our system and our people.
But just in case, I HAVE ordered a new TV. There is a sledgehammer by my chair.

I didn't vote. I wasn't registered. At first I didn't want to vote but when I finally changed my mind it was too late to register. My vote wouldn't have done anything anyway.

@porwest If I was registered and had voted what's happening now would still happen though.

@lovebuglena I always am dismayed when people make that claim, because it is not true. Votes matter and votes count, even if there are still odds that favor one side over the other. The odds always favor the democrats, and so my side has to fight even harder to win.

I voted a couple of weeks ago by Absentee Ballot. I am very happy with my selection.

Glad you exercise your right to vote. I think this happens once every 4 year but it is important to be heard and see if your voice is with the majority or minority. We will see after this election is over and done with. I just hope candidates will accept defeat over the other.

As they say, it's not over until the fat lady sings. Many people still have time to vote in many states. Should be interesting who actually wins.

@porwest I can't help but be a little nervous. Biden is leading, which can't be good.

I don't get your tv joke unless you mean it's the TV's fault if our guy doesn't win.

@MarshaMusselman Still waiting on NV to finish up and the other 4 states as well. Trump will likely win PA, NC, GA, and AK, but ne needs all 5. If he loses Nevada it's done. UNLESS something changes in AZ. He could win it that way too.

Though you don't say, I assume we are on different sides in our political affiliation. And I understand your disappointment. Believe me, many of us felt that in 2016. You'll survive. What surprises me is that you seemed to be sure Trump was going to win. Nothing I was hearing suggested that. I thought it was going to be close (too close for comfort), but I was not surprised when Biden won. Seemed very predictable.

@porwest Yes. It is one of the hallmarks of a free country. Back home I never failed to vote in any election since the time I was qualified to vote.

@jvicentevalera It is what it is. We have a process, the American people have spoken...now we just have to accept whatever comes as a result. I do not think the result will be good though.

I know who you will vote for. I agree that the thing is to vote. We don´t have any right to say things are wrong if we don´t vote.
