My cats seem to be confused

Sometimes I think my cats forget who they are. Chilly has been doing things that remind me of my late cat, Precious. Mama's been doing things Chilly usually does. The only cat not acting like an oddball is Chinnia. Okay, so she keeps shying away from me and acting like she doesn't know me, or meows at nothing. I really don't understand why.
Despite their flaws, I love them all the same.

I don't think they would be our furr babies if they weren't.

LOL--we had a cat when I was little, and when Mom would vacuum he would not move when the vacuum came close to him. Mom had to push him several times with the vacuum to give him the idea!

Most cats aren' a fan of loud noises. We had a cat who would arch his back and hiss at the vacuum. We dubbed it "mean machine" because of his reaction to it.

@kaylachan There are many "scary monsters" out there for kitties!

I know mine are. I love them all the more for it. I think Tropical Storm Eta has gotten Chilly in a more purr-friendly mood. While he doesn't hide under the bed like he used to, he still purrs and can't wait to see my husband and I. His favorite pastime, is when we're in the same room. Mama seems to find the kitchen floor her new favorite place. Kind of wish she didn't.

Sometimes, I wonder if my cats know their own names.

Sorry for your loss. Some cats can't recognize their own name. @Shavkat

@kaylachan I lost my cat early this year. He still cannot recognize his name.

Yup. My dog does plenty of things I don't get, but she's still my baby (even though she's over ten).

When it comes to furr babies, age literally is just a number.

If I had to guess, Chinnia is around 14-16. Chilly is around 10. And Mama, between 10-12.

Hmm, very different. The only time I noticed cats acting different is when someone or something new making them nervous is around.

Well, this isn't anxiety-induced behavior. They are just being unique.

My dogs seem to know their names but the cats only know it when it's food

All cats have their own, that's for sure.
