Pandemic Budget policy This morning I was invited to attend a meeting at the village office. The agenda is to discuss changes to the village budget plan for 2021. As an introduction, the District Officials said that in 2021 the budget allocation is mainly directed at strengthening the community's economy related to the impact of the pandemic. So that there is almost no village infrastructure development. Of course, some participants in the meeting were disappointed, because at the previous meeting several infrastructure developments had been decided, but the policy of the central government required changes in the budget. In the hearing session, I said that this change could be accepted as something positive or negative, at least the village had enough funds for community empowerment, compared to this year. In many cases, most village heads prefer to infrastructure development, because it is easier to report, and sometimes there is a fee from the developer. Of course this is illegal..??

I am not surprised about the fee thing. That's how it works (mostly) in our country.
