Understanding a cat meowing

I found a very geeky app to impress your friends, translating what tells a cat meowing. It is supposed to understand 9 basic expressions. To tell the truth it does not work that well because cats have accents : a Siamese does not speak like a Persian, and my stray cat like Scar.
But, it is where it becomes interesting, this app has learning capacities, and you can teach it to recognize the accent of your own cat. Indeed you need to know your cat's language to do that, it is not for a complete newbie in meow chatting.
Perhaps not indispensable, but underrated by some philistines not realizing that this is a fine AI jewel.
I give the link to the Android version. It exists also for iPhones.
MeowTalk by Akvelon gives your cat a voice! Using machine learning MeowTalk instantaneously translates your cat’s meows into one of nine general cat intents; these nine intents represent cat moods and states of mind. But each cat also has its own unique vo

I had to look up Ticinese. There's not an awful lot about it online. I did find "Beev l'acqua dal cudee' hilarious ... when I had looked up 'cudee' and found that it is the cow's horn (presumably with water in it) in which the whetstone is kept in a barn'. There's no easy way to translate that succinctly: I suppose that in England we might say of a naive person "He's been drinking ditch water again!" (though I've never heard that expression used).

@topffer How sweet of you to remember my birthday! Thank you!
Your lockdown is over? We still have restrictions here and several activities (gyms, swimming pools, cinemas for example) are closed.
Sadly I only recently updated my desktop from XP to Windows 10 and was unable to use it during the lockdowns here last year - but I'm ready for the next one now!

@mysdianait We have a curfew from 6pm to 6am and many places closed by law (cinemas, theaters, museums, restaurants...), but it is still better than a complete lockdown...
Now that you are equiped I hope that we will see you more often here

Interesting ! I reckon that cats also have their "families of language ",depending on where they live.

In Berriozar a white persian cat with green eyes used to meow and scratch at the window of the bottom landing everytime I went downstairs.
She would make a real fuss of me even being outside the window she did not bother with anyone else.
I loved her to bits but not my cat.
I did not need an app to guess what she was saying to me really.
Original idea though.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Maybe she wanted to settle in your home. A cat may chose home. My last two cats were living in the streets and were part of the cats that I was feeding outdoors in the garden. Then they visited the house and after a while decided to settle.

That could not be tops her owner is a very conflictive person nuff said I just love that memory of that cat with emerald sea green eyes and pure white and fluffy coat.
She was adorable and so her kittens will be the same too.
Those cats obviously liked you and I can bet if you had a cat door they would all be in there too wanting to take up residence.

@topffer my mother tried it on one of my uncle's cats. She didn't think they got the translation right. We will try it again in a few days to see if the translation is different. Hopefully it will because the cat is going to be fixed today.

That's fabulous. The longer I got to know my cats, I never had a problem understanding what they wanted

I wonder if it would recognize that my Tinker, who is a big boy, still talks baby talk? You would think he was a kitten.

Oh it would be interesting to use indeed. Unfortunately we only have outdoor apartment cats. Haha~ and we rarely feed them anymore since one of them keeps pooping on our front door before we blocked their entrance. Oh well. Maybe I will try it in the future when I get a pet cat for real.

My cat and the previous one were cats that I started to feed in my garden and they decided to settle. The actual one considers my home like an hotel, he comes at home to eat and sleep and spends most of his time outdoors, he is very independent and does not meow often.

If you get a virus on an Android phone, it is because you have been reckless and rooted your phone. You should consider that any app has high walls around, and a virus can cross the walls only if you gave it the authorizations to do it. If you are careful with the authorizations given to an app (is this one needs to read and write on the sd card ?) and do not root your phone (Android is based on Linux ; navigating with root privileges is like letting all your doors and windows opened with a welcome message to robbers.) nothing really bad can happen.
