Any One Else Watching the Crown

I have been quite addicted to it since it first premiered on Netflix. Season 4 brings us into the rememberable past introducing Diana Spencer. Emma Corrin really does look like the young Diana. Of course, it is hard to really be entranced by her and the relationship because we know how it ends and what a lie it was from word one on both sides.
But it is so well done that I am trying to just live in the moment of the excitement that we all felt leading up to the wedding, I was up at 5 am that morning to watch it on TV. It seems so long ago, 1981 we were all so young and naive in those days. We thought it was a new princess and a happy ever after moment.
I am a big fan of Olivia Colman and she does a great job of playing the queen. Henena Bonham Carter is a very bit... Princess Margaret and Gillian Anderson is a very convincing Margaret Thatcher. Camilla Parker Bowles is always in the background and it gives us the feeling that she is the love of Charles life and he was pushed into marriage by the "Family",
Anyway, well worth a watch.

@BelleStarr Well, maybe in the film. I've only seen the photo on this site and it doesn't convince me.

@MALUSE She has adopted that shy eyes down look in the early episodes and I think did a pretty fair job.

@BelleStarr I seem to be drawn to English shows lately. I will put it on my list.

@BelleStarr I find the historical episodes very interesting. Last night I had to keep skipping much of the episode about Margaret and her photographer lover. I really don't care for intimate displays of her affairs. It is a waste of my time. The one about Mrs. Kennedy was really good!

I think you're right about Camilla. We were the first in our tiny country town to get (black and white) TV when eventually we could get reception and virtually the first thing we watched was their wedding - of Charles and Diana, I mean.

@BelleStarr It certainly was a fairytale wedding.

I didn't think it would be and what you watch doesn't appeal to me but that is what makes things interesting, it would be boring if we all liked the same thing

Camilla was definitely the love of Charles's life; and the royal family most certainly pushed him into marriage. Such a farce! We don't have Netflix anymore; but thank you for the recommendation.

It is a very compelling show. WHile one can admire the queen she is a cold emotionless woman.

I'm glad you found a show that is worth your time. Personally, I don't have mush time nowadays to watch any show or movies. But for sure, I would love too if given a chance.

@bellestarr Good gracious no! Some of us have to live with that awful family popping up all over the place and annoying the life out of us. They really are such a waste of space and ought to self-destruct.

lol I suppose I should feel the same way being 59% Irish but my English grandma keeps creeping in and the fact that Camilla is my 11th cousin does keep me coming back lol

Yes I have gone back and rewatched the first year several times, I see more things every time. It will be interesting to see the new cast changes for season 5.

I've started watching it. So, far I like what I've seen. Season 1 Ep4. I admire John Lithgo's portrayal of Winston Churchill.
